Az "s.k." rövidítés jelentése valóban "saját kezűleg" vagy "saját kézzel". Azonban érdemes arra figyelni, hogy ha az eredeti dokumentumon csupán ennyi áll "s.k. bíró" gépelve vagy nyomtatva, az még NEM feltétlenül jelenti azt, hogy az okiratot egy bíró valóban alá is írta. Ezért támogatom a rövidítést az angolban is ("m.p"), mert ha kiírjuk, hogy "signed by the judge", az nem biztos, hogy megfelel a valóságnak. Okiratokon ez nem elhanyagolható részlet szerintem.
Manu propria is a Latin phrase in the ablative case meaning "(signed) with one's own hand". In its abbreviated form (m.p.), it is sometimes used at the end of typewritten or printed documents or official notices right after the name of the person(s) who "signed" the document exactly in those cases when there is no handwritten signature there.
