http://www.heiligenlexikon.de/start.html? is a quite exhaustive collection of (almost) everything about saints with a really nice glossary of terms used in connection with church, christianity and religious orders. There is also a list of christian names with their origins and meanings.

I haven't really understood what the initial question was, but another ressource could be the Biographisch-bibliographisches Kirchenlexikon (http://www.bbkl.de/), containing data and bibliographical material on the greater part of the relevant persons in Church history. Could be helpful if you need something on a scientific level.
