The former, I suppose. Sep 30, 2009

Will the conference start soon? I thought it had been scheduled for 10 GMT, but it's 10:37 now, and I cannot log in.

10 AM GMT is 12 PM at GMT+2... And you are on the GMT+1 time zone, so the VC will start at 11 AM your time. You can see this by comparing the time zones displayed under our respective profile pictures.

Daylight saving time, so you are currently on GMT+1...

Teething problems? Sep 30, 2009

1. The photo upload is still a no-go, even with a photo of 100x92 pixels. 2. Networking is a bit of a let-down. I can see about four to six avatars and names at a time, with text in a silly minuscule size - and if I select my language pair and specialism I am told that there are 1000 hits. Anyone here willing to scroll through 1000 hits six at a time?
Oh yes, there is a view that claims to give me 25 icons/names at a time, but only about half are actually displayed, and I have to manually grab the right hand scroll bar to see the rest (although at that size I can't meaningfully "see" anything).

3. The ProZ prize draw is dependent on completing an "examination" answering questions of detail about all parts of the conference site. (Back to school anyone?) I appreciate that ProZ wants to force me to look in detail at all the sponsor pages, but no thanks, I will look in detail at the ones that I want to look at.

I realise that it's too late to do anything about these points in this virtual conference, but they are perhaps worth bearing in mind in any future conferences.

Speaking of the ProZ survey... Sep 30, 2009

There are no questions in some of the required fields, and the booths contain no survey questions, as far as I see.

Probably you have to "go" to their presentation and remember how many commas there were on slide 23

I see that now (about 3 hours later) there seem to be a mere 70 people on-line.
I wonder if that is a reflection on the small type, slow loading of pages, confusing navigation etc.?
I certainly plan to listen to Daniel Benito in a few minutes. But that will probably be more or less the last item on today's experiment for me.

There are about 2000 people in the environment right now. You may be looking at the number present in a given area
