I don't care Oct 16, 2016

It doesn't matter what I'm being referred to, I'm still a translator.

I have never been referred to as such so I cannot really say.

Why are those questions being asked by anonymous lately so stupid?

I think we're all used to the term Human Resources.

I don’t think I have ever been referred to as such, but I don’t mind. I’m not very susceptible and, whatever you call me, I’ll still be a translator.

I've been called 'saucy' before, but never a 'resource.'

A resource is Human Resources terminology. Outside of it, whether in print, on software or other type of literature, referring to professionals with a distinct name (doctors, nurses, interpreters, plumbers, translators, etc.) as a resource is inappropriate and, yes, stupid.

If a HR manager asks his assistant to find 3 resources for the piping design department, then they know what they're talking about but still have to specify.

Outside of HR circles, however, calling anyone a resource shows ignorance and an exaggerated love for buzzwords.

It's just another of those vogue words which, I suppose, people unconsciously absorb on media studies and business management courses.
Soon, a new modish term will appear.

and a human being. If anyone referred to me as a 'resource' I would certainly not want to work with that person/the agency they work for. But perhaps 'resources' are happy to work for 0.025 € per source word?

Mind over matter Oct 16, 2016

I don't mind, so it don't matter.
Besides, I've been called much worse than a resource.

"resource" is probably better.. Oct 16, 2016

"resource" is probably better than being referred to as a "vendor" - as some agencies like to call us

Can't stand it Oct 16, 2016

I really, really hate it. I genuinely find it deeply offensive. In my mind a resource is a thing to be used. I don't feel like a thing, I feel like a person working with and alongside other people for a common goal.

Good to see that most people don't mind it though. I will endeavour to stop letting it bother me.
