Slow Excel launch

I use Excel for accounting and one file will open and close ok, but if I open another excel file (a second or third) the program will think about it for ages. No other programs load slow and I’ve tried excluding the antivirus prog but this makes no difference. Defrag says not required.
Anyone got any idea of how to speed this up?

I'm using those regularly to sort registry probs
