Hmm, I think place names should be allowed too. Just be sure that it is ONE English word. What do you think, Mark? Denyce

I think you need to set some boundaries like when playing Scrabble. Are proper names allowed? etc. There are a lot of native American place names that are quite a mouthful http://www.snyderweb.com/placenames/book04.htm

Yes, place names are fine, in fact any names as long as they're verifiable and not made up:) I've been trying to think of really long English words in the hope that they might translate into huge huge Chinese words but sadly not:( I was hoping the classic Mary Poppins song title "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" would work out at about 15 characters but it doesn't seem to translate very well:) Mark

Mark, Looks like you have another potential forum topic on hand: "Best Translation for Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious". Geez, what does that word mean, anyway? Denyce

Yes, it's not bad for one English word even though it doesn't really mean anything. If I counted correctly it contains 34 letters. Actually I was reading recently that there is a chemical compound that is about 190 thousand letters long! Try pronouncing that word in one breath:) So, can anyone beat Denyce's 7 character "word" ??
