In fact I know much more languages than I uncover in my settings. I am able to read and understand every Slavonic language. I have mastered Russian, Polish well and, naturally, my native Czech. But as a former citizen of Czechoslovakia I know Slovak. Ukrainian and Belorussian are not a problem too.
From the western languages I know English, German and Dutch, because I have worked in Holland for some time. I try to learn language of the country I am in.
I know some Yiddish, but it is not easy to find someone to talk to. I am writing a Yiddish-Czech dictionary (jazyky.wordpress.com/jidslov).
My French is a bit rusty now as well as my Italian, but they are just waiting for their time.
I would like improve my Turkish, but I feel the right thing here is to go to Turkey for some time.
Education
I studied the Russian studies at the Charles University in Prague, the Czech Republic. I have been to Russia, Ukraine, the Baltic States as well as Poland several times, longer stays included. During my studies and afterwards I translated many texts, mostly commercial and technical, but some literature and poetry (Mayakovsky) too.
