Od svih naučnika astronomi su najneprecizniji, bar kada se radi o rastojanjima. Kada kužu da je galaksija M 51 od nas udaljena 23 miliona svetlosnih godina, a taj podatak se nalazi u Wikipediji, to onda može biti i 19 miliona, ali i 37 (podaci po raznim relevantnim mestima na Internetu), zavisno od toga kako se i s čim to rastojanje meri.
Ali i tako nerecizni astronomi zaslužuju veliko poštovanje i priznanje za svoj rad jer barataju sa najvećim mogućim rastojanjima i mere razdaljine objekata koje često jedva naziru, a ponekad ih i ne vide. A ponekad i ne znaju šta tačno mere. Evo razmere Sunčevog sistema su dobar primer. Koliki je Sunčev sistem? Da na kraju Sunčevog sistema postoji granički kamen stvar bi bila lakša, ali kamena nema. Kako onda odrediti dokle seže Sunčev sistem i dokle je on naš? Kako definisati granice do kojih se meri?
Možda će to jednog dana biti predmet žestoke galaktičke debate, ali dotle nude se bar dva
rešenja, oba ne baš jako pouzdana. Po nekima za granicu treba uzeti kraj heliosfere, a heliosfera je oblast u Sunčevom sistemu u kojoj je pritisak Sunčevog vetra jači od pritiska čestica međuzvezdanog prostora. Heliosfera se vizuelno predstavlja kao neki mehur elipsoidnog oblika, poluprečnika od oko 100 astronomskih jedinica. A astronomska jedinica je rastojanje Zemlje od Sunca i iznosi ugrubo 150 miliona kilometara (ta merna jedinica je vrlo zgodna za merenje rastojanja u Sunčevom sistemu). Zbog ovakve definicije granice Sunčevog sistema u medijima se pre nekoliko godina pojavila informacija da je američka letelica Vojadžer 1 (lanisrana maja 1977.) došla do granice i napustila Sunčev sistem.
Međutim carstvo Sunca je mnogo veće ako za njegovu granicu uzmemo veličinu prostora u kome dominira Sunčeva gravitacija. U tom slučaju poluprečnik Sunčevog sistema izaziva vrtoglavicu i iznosi 125 000 astronomskih jedinica, što je oko dve svetlosne godine. Problem je opet što nedostaje pomenuti granični kamen, tj. ne zna se pouzdano dokle seže gravitaciona premoć Sunca. Ali ako je Suncu najbliža zvezda Proksima Kentauri, približno iste mase kao i naša zvezda, udaljena oko čeitri i malo više svetlosnih godina, onda možemo, krajnje grubo, da odredimo premoć Sunčeve gravitacije na te dve svetlosne godine.
U ove granice od dve svetlosne godine se lepo uklapa i položaj Ortovog oblaka, hipotetičnog
oblaka triliona kometa koji obavija čitav Sunčev sistem na njegovim krajnjim granicama. Po teoriji Ortov oblak se prostire na razdaljini od 50 hiljada (unutrašnja granica) do preko 100 hiljada astronomskih jedinica (spoljna ganica) od Sunca. Inače, da dodamo da je Neptun, najzabačenija planeta Sunčevog sistema, od Sunca udaljena nepšto više od 30 astronomskih jedinica. Pesnički rečeno, tako daleko, a tako blizu.

Out of all scientists, astronomers are the least precise, when it comes to measuring distances, anyway. When they say that the galaxy M51 is 23 million light-years away from us, and that data can be found on Wikipedia, then it might as well be 19 million, or even 37 (based on various relevant online sources), depending on how and with what that distance is being measured.
Yet, despite their imprecision, astronomers deserve great respect and recognition for their work because they grapple with the largest possible distances and measures of distance between objects that they can often barely glimpse, and sometimes not see at all. And sometimes they don't even know what exactly they are measuring. For this, the dimensions of the Solar System are a good example. What is the size of the Solar System? If the end of the Solar System were marked by a border stone, things would be easier, but there is no stone. How should we then determine how far the Solar System reaches, and how much of it is ours? What defines the boundary to which we should measure?
Perhaps one day this will be the subject of a heated galactic debate, but until then there are at least two solutions, neither of them being too reliable. Some consider the threshold to be at the end of the heliosphere, a region in the Solar System where the pressure of solar wind is stronger than that of interstellar space particles. The heliosphere visually presents as an ellipsoidal bubble with a radius of about 100 astronomical units. An astronomical unit equals the distance between the Earth and the Sun and amounts to roughly 150 million kilometers (this unit of measurement is very convenient for measuring distance in the Solar System). Due to this definition of the edge of the Solar System, a few years ago it was stated in the media that the American space probe Voyager 1 (launched in May 1977) reached the edge and left the Solar System.
However, the empire of the Sun is much larger if we consider the range in which the Sun's gravity dominates as its threshold. In that case, the Solar System's radius amounts to a mind-boggling 125,000 astronomical units, which equals about two light years. The issue remaining is that the aforementioned border stone is still missing; i.e., it is not determined how far the gravitational force of the Sun reaches. However, if the star closest to the Sun – Proxima Centauri, with a mass close to that of our star – is located a little over four light-years away, then we can, in fact, very roughly, determine the gravitational force of the Sun to be two light-years.
These boundaries of the Solar System also encompass the position of the Oort Cloud, a hypothetical cloud of a quintillion comets that orbits the entire Solar System at its very edges. The area of the Oort Cloud extends across a distance of 50,000 (inner cloud) to over 100,000 astronomical units (outer cloud) from the Sun. Besides, let us add that Neptune, the most remote planet of the Solar System, is located a little over 30 astronomical units away from the Sun. Poetically speaking, so close, yet so far.

Stručni jezik je jezik određene struke ili grane industrije. Karakterišu ga pre svega specijalna leksika, odnosno posebna terminologija koju čine uglavnom tehnički izrazi, a u pojedinim slučajevima i specifična sintaksa i morfologija koje se razlikuju u odnosu na standardni jezik. U italijanskom jeziku u upotrebi je nekoliko termina koji su ekvivalentni srpskom terminu „stručni jezik“: lingua speciale, microlingua, linguaggio settoriale, linguaggio specialistico. Iako bi u svakoj od ovih grupa, srpski termin „stručni jezik“ mogao naći svoje mesto, u italijanskoj leksici svaki od ovih termina ima svoje značenje i po nečemu se razlikuje od ostalih. Tako, na primer, Sobrero pravi razliku između pojmova linguaggio settoriale (sektorijalni jezik) i linguaggio specialistico (specijalistički jezik). Pod pojmom linguaggio specialistico on podrazumeva visoko-specijalizovane discipline kao što su fizika, informatika ili linguistika, dok pojam linguaggio settoriale obuhvata oblasti koje ne moraju biti specijalističke, poput jezika novina, televizije, politike, reklama.
Opšte karakteristike „specijalističkih jezika“ su sledeće:
• Svaki termin ima samo jedno značenje, nasuprot polivalentnosti standardnog jezika.
• Nema emotivnih niti estetskih komponenti. Glavni cilj je davanje informacije.
• Sintetičnost i efikasnost.
• Specifična leksika i posebna pravila (npr. načini građenja neologizama, ili karakteristične tekstualne strukture).
• Uzak krug ljudi koji će koristiti datu terminologiju (uglavnom stručnjaci u datoj oblasti).
Opšte karakteristike „sektorijalnih jezika“:
• Nemaju specifičnu leksiku, u pravom smislu reči, već samo užu leksiku.
• Ne postoje utvrđena specifična pravila. Preuzimaju se iz savremenog standardnog jezika.
• Namenjeni su mnogo širem krugu ljudi u odnosu na „specijalistički jezik“.
Uzimajući u obzir navedene karakteristike, građevinska terminologija mogla bi se uvrstiti u obe kategorije.
Poteškoće u prevođenju stručne terminologije
Pri prevođenju stručnih tekstova prevodilac i lektor susreću se sa nizom teškoća koje su posledica širine stručne oblasti i kompleksnosti terminologije koja se neprestano menja i proširuje. Veliku teškoću predstavljaju i razlike u terminologiji među jezicima, a neretko, i nepostojanje adekvatnih termina u ciljnom jeziku. Ove poteškoće prevazilaze se upotrebom stručne litrerature i međusobnom komunikacijom. Dobar prevodilac mora biti stručnjak u oblasti kojoj pripada tekst koji se prevodi i mora biti upoznat sa modernom terminologijom i njenom svakodnevnom upotrebom, da bi se izbeglo nagađanje i neadekvatna upotreba termina. Prilikom prevođenja kompleksnih tekstova poželjno je, takođe, konsultovati stručnjaka za datu oblast.

A szaknyelv egy meghatározott szakma vagy iparág nyelvezete. Elsősorban sajátos szókészlet, illetve terminológia jellemzi, amely főleg szakkifejezéseket foglal magában. Egyes esetekben viszont lehetnek a sztenderd nyelvtől eltérő, sajátos mondattani és alaktani jellemzői is. Az olasz nyelvben több szakkifejezés létezik, amelyek ekvivalensek a nyelvünkben használatos „szaknyelvvel”: lingua speciale, microlingua, linguaggio settoriale, linguaggio specialistico. Habár e szavak mindegyike valamilyen szinten kiegyenlíthető a „szaknyelv” jelentésével, az olasz szókészletben meghatározott jelentésük van, amely valamilyen módon eltér a többitől. Így Sobrero megkülönböztet „szektoriális nyelvet” (linguaggio settoriale) és „szaknyelvet” (linguaggio specialistico). A „szaknyelv” alatt olyan erősen szakosodott tudományágakat ért, mint például a fizika, az informatika vagy a nyelvtudomány. A „szektoriális nyelvet” viszont olyan területekhez köti, amelyek nem feltétlenül szakterületek. Ilyen például az újságírásban, a televízióban, a politikában, vagy a reklámokban használatos nyelv.
A „szaknyelv” (linguaggio specialistico) általános jellemzői:
• Minden terminusnak csak egy jelentése van, ellentétben a sztenderd nyelvvel, amelyet a szavak gyakori többértelműsége jellemzi
• Nincsenek érzelmi vagy esztétikai komponensei. A legfőbb cél az információ átadása.
• Szintetikus és hathatós kifejezésmód
• Specifikus szókészlet és sajátos szabályok (pl. neologizmusok képzésének módja, vagy jellemző szövegszerkezet)
• Csak szűkebb társadalmi körökben használatos a terminológia ( általában szakemberek az adott szakterületen)
A „szektoriális nyelv” (linguaggio settoriale) általános jellemzői
• A szókészlete nem specifikus a szó valódi értelmében, csak szűkebb
• Nincsenek sajátos szabályai, átveszi a jelenkori sztenderd nyelv szabályait
• Sokkal tágabb körökben használják, mint a „szaknyelvet“
A fentebb említett tulajdonságokat figyelembe véve az építőipari terminológia mindkét kategóriába besorolható.
Nehézségek a szakterminológia fordításában
Szakszövegek fordítása során a fordító és a lektor számos nehézségbe ütközhet, amelyek a széleskörű szakmai terület és az összetett, valamint folyamatosan változó és bővülő terminológia következményei. Emellett komoly problémákat okozhatnak a nyelvek közötti különbségek az adott terminológián belül, valamint gyakran előfordul a megfelelő szakkifejezések hiánya is a célnyelvben. Ezeket a nehézségeket a szakirodalom használatával és kommunikációval győzhetjük le. Egy jó fordítónak jártasnak kell lennie a szakmában, amelyben fordít és ismernie kell a modern terminológiát és annak mindennapi használatát, hogy elkerülje a találgatást és a terminusok nem megfelelő alkalmazását. Összetett szövegek fordírása során mindemellett ajánlatos a szakemberekkel való konzultáció is.
