Italiano term

il frusto ripetersi

Da Italiano a Inglese Arte/Letteratura Arte, Arti applicate, Pittura idiomatic expression
Can anyone help me get my head round this phrase, which appears in the sentence below:

I guess it means something along the lines of " weary familiarity" or something that has been "over-milked" ?

All suggestions gratefully received!

worn-out (obsessed) repetition

'trito e ritrito' ovvero 'logoro'

The term 'otaku' is often translated with 'nerd'.

"Today’s otaku have it better. The label has lost some of its sting; concurrently, more sites of "otaku-ness" have sprung up. Tokyo’s Akihabara has become probably the most recognizable otaku town in the world. Local authorities have embraced that identity, holding frequent festivals and welcoming fans. Increased public recognition has also helped broaden the culture; no longer confined to the image of an person-less room overstuffed with pop-culture flotsam, otaku can take on more positive meanings. It’s not just the **obsessive, withdrawn loner** — though that picture may never completely dissipate — now it can be the **ardent, passionate expert**"

banal repetitiveness

or banal recurrence

this subculture has no originality and is self-referential the text goes on to say so I would say banal in the sense of tedious, unoriginal and ininspiring all in the same word

Peer comment(s):
