Spanish term

matrices que no dependen de quienes lo producen

Spanish to English Social Sciences Environment & Ecology Low carbon development
Text from Peru, going into British English.

I'm a bit confused by this part of the sentence. Any help would be appreciated :)

Hi Helena Sorry to have to close this but I sent the completed document back to the client and queried this sentence. They didn't get back to me to clarify it, however, so I still don't know what was meant here!
Nedra Rivera Huntington May 19, 2014:
patterns? Could it be something like "patterns" in the sense of the "mold/mould" meaning of "matriz"?
Helena Chavarria May 18, 2014:
@Lisa Yes, I know what you mean. But if 'lo' referred to 'comoditizacion', then I think it shoud be 'la', not 'lo'. I also thought of 'matices', instead of 'matrices'.

Proposed translations

10 mins

core aspects that do not depend on who produces them

Understanding 'matriz' as 'central/main/core', etc., this might work.

My Spanish family tell me, and insist, that 'lo' refers to 'el riesgo' ;)

core aspects that do not depend on who causes/produces it (the risk)
Note from asker:
Hi Helena, I was thinking that 'matrices' could be factors or even 'matrices', I don't know. And it says 'quienes LO producen', so they are referring to the singular, and the only possibility here is 'la comoditización'. That said, there are quite a few errors in the text :)
Yes, it could be a mistake here - maybe it should be 'las' instead of 'lo'.
