Spanish to English Other Food & Drink Cocktails
Steps explaining how to prepare a drink of vodka:

4. Añade lentamente el refresco o combinado que prefieras, si es que buscas preparar un combinado. Si optas por una copa “on the rocks”, simplemente omite este paso.

5. Por último, escoge el ****botánico**** que más te apetezca de esta caja y acompáñalo de un cítrico (tiras de naranja, lima…) para lograr un efecto fresco y frutal.

6. Remueve suavemente y ¡listo! Ya puedes disfrutar de tu vodka preparado.

I'm afraid there's no more context, the word appears on a list of instructions, which I imagine will be included inside the package, explaining how to prepare the drink.

Spanish from Spain to UK English.

I would appreciate your suggestions.

Thank you very much.

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): Thayenga

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

@ Star anise That's correct - have some in my cupboard :)
Helena Chavarria (asker) Oct 18, 2013:
Thanks Carol! Yes, I googled 'starred aniseed' (I didn't think 'crashed aniseed' would work) and I came up with 'star anise'.
Carol Gullidge Oct 18, 2013:
not to mention the star anise! in other words, the ingredients that are derived from plants
Carol Gullidge Oct 18, 2013:
sounds like a good excuse to visit your local friendly bar tender!

My guess is that it could be fresh herbs - chopped or whole mint springs to mind for a cocktail.
But given your latest context (which has just appeared), I'd guess it refers to the flower petals, ginger - ie, anything "vegetable" or to do with plants
Helena Chavarria (asker) Oct 18, 2013:
I've just seen a list of ingredients follows the instructions. I suppose the 'botánico' refers to one of them.

BBC Food - Is boutique gin the tonic for shrinking spirits market?

13 Oct 2012 - Coriander is the second most important botanical in gin. The gingery, sage flavour of the seeds are used to add citrusy freshness and spice.

I translated this term about a year ago I think, so the research is done :-)

I'd already been hearing some buzz about souped-up gin and tonics. Word is that they're all the rage in Spain, and that there are many specialized bars in Barcelona dedicated to variations on this one classic drink. Recipe riffs at these Spanish bars include the addition of aromatic ingredients such as lemon zest, start anise, nutmeg, and cinnamon - all ***botanicals*** frequently used to flavor the myriad brands of gin available on the international market.

Yes, thank you, Lisa! That's the trouble with working at top speed, I don't take enough time to read through the whole text!
