Description | The Baltic Society of Translators is a regional association of translators and interpreters established in northern Poland in 2006. Our objective is to integrate the translator/interpreter community in order to promote best practices, develop shared professional standards, raise the profile of the profession and enable access to and participation in professional training and development. We work closely with the major Polish translator/interpreter associations: PT TEPIS and STP. All our members undertake to follow the principles of the BST Member Charter: BALTIC SOCIETY OF TRANSLATORS—MEMBER CHARTER Members of the Baltic Society of Translators (BST) are practising translators and interpreters committed to respect the provisions of the Society’s Articles of Association and Member Charter. The duties of a BST Member include: Protecting the good name of the Society, promoting its activity, participating in undertakings organised by BST, Upholding the high rank of the translation profession and conduct conforming to professional ethics, Constantly improving professional qualifications and skills, enhancing knowledge, participating in training courses, Taking efforts to provide translations that faithfully reflect the content of the original and are according to the rules fostering the art of translation, Rejecting jobs that remain beyond the member’s scope of knowledge or linguistic capacity or when the proposed deadline prevents their reliable performance, Respecting professional confidentiality, Sharing knowledge and consulting any doubts with others, Providing translation assistance to other BST members as well as to less experienced colleagues, Loyalty towards fellow translators and employers, Refraining from applying dumping prices and unfair competition, Regular payment of membership fees. BST members represent the following languages: Croatian Czech Danish Dutch English French German Hungarian Italian Japanese Lithuanian Norwegian Russian Slovak Spanish Swedish Ukrainian. |
