A FEW WORDS ABOUT ME

   I am a graduate of the biological faculty of Donetsk National University (Ukraine). The years of attendance were from 1997 to 2002. My majors were biology, human and animal physiology, and chemistry.

   My professional translation career started in 2004 when I was employed by a local translation agency to work as an in-house translator. At that time, my main areas of specialization were medicine and biology. I helped professors of M.Gorky Donetsk National Medical University (www.dnmu.com.ua) to translate courses of lectures and practice classes for the Department of Nervous Diseases, Propedeutic Dentistry, Infectious Diseases, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Hospital Surgery.

   Three years later, I was offered a position as an in-house translator at a metallurgical plant. My job was to translate ASTM standards, steel grade specifications, financial and legal documents, such as constituent documents, letters of attorney, manuals, contracts, agreements, equipment descriptions, balance sheets, etc. I also interpreted for foreign visitors.

   In 2011, I was offered a job as an in-house translator at a pharmaceutical company Synbias Pharma Ltd. (www.synbiaspharma.com) that allowed me to acquire profound knowledge of GMP documents, manufacturing of active pharmaceutical ingredients for antineoplastic drugs, translation of work instructions, standard operating procedures, etc.

   In 2014, I started my career as a freelance translator, and I have been a professional freelance translator ever since.

   My principal objective is to deliver high-quality work to any customers. It means that I always use dictionaries, encyclopedias, project-specific glossaries, style guides, follow translation standards and client-specific instructions provided. I do not just translate words from one language to another but add value to my services by implementing a complete cycle of services that consists of translation, editing, proofreading (TEP). I am offering a translation of publishable quality requiring minimal proofreading only. At the end, I do the final check to make sure no linguistic or stylistic errors are found and terminology is consistent in the translated documents.

💰 RATES

   As a rule, I charge per source word for translation and per hour for proofreading and editing. I tend to negotiate the rates for each individual project depending on text complexity, its format and turnaround time. My rate includes the following phases of my translation cycle:

• researching the subject area;
• translating the actual document;
• several proofreading stages.
