Texte source - anglais Her right arm had a mesmerising set of tattoos that I found myself staring at. They were roses, vines, and something else that I couldn’t quite finger. It was beautiful. The red was full and just the right colour to excite a response; the greens were lush. I started to think that perhaps she was just painted and that these weren’t tattoos. Her tank top disabused me of these thoughts as intricate lines of steely black traced from her neck down her spine in a delicate dance of pure love. Two things sprung to mind—that whoever did the artwork on her was incredibly talented and probably loved her (the care and time to put this on someone was extraordinary); and, secondly, that it must have hurt like hell—especially the anarchy symbol on the neck just below the ear. It was a distraction as I listened, but her message was clear.
She was looking at me now. Expectantly. Could she read my mind? Was I staring at her? I was staring at her tattoos but, in the mix of things, who knows where the eyes go and I’m sure that I could explain… “Huh?” I managed.
“What do you think?” she repeated.
I must have stopped listening during my immersion within her tattoos. I quickly tried to regain the present and replayed her last few sentences in my mind. “Yes. And that was your problem,” I said, gambling. When I was a student, I learned very quickly that you need to study your teacher as much as the material—because it was the teacher who graded you, and his or her bias was your ticket to an A.
In this case, I was gambling that she just wanted me to agree with her or to point to her last statement. I hoped that this wasn’t a trick that she was trying to pull over on me. By me not answering her directly, she would think that I understood and shared the answer. If she didn’t believe that I was smart enough, she would call my bluff. She either believed in my intellect or was too polite to put me in an embarrassing position.
“Exactly,” she continued. Her eyes blazed as she looked directly at me. Her hands slapped the table between us. The water that I was drinking moved just slightly. “I couldn’t imagine it, and so I couldn’t make it so.” She looked at me approvingly, her head nodding to herself very subtly.
“The idea is first inception of the deed. If we can think it, we can do it.” I offered up something that I had heard at some point in my career in advertising.
“This is more important than most people realise,” she said with intensity. Despite myself, I found myself increasingly attracted to her. She was a bit of a freak, but the intensity of her body movement and eyes eliminated my general apathy and drew me into her sphere. I found myself becoming excited for no other reason than that she was excited—energised.
“I needed to stop seeing the negativity and reasons for how I couldn’t achieve $1 million per year. I needed to stop even trying to figure out how I would achieve this level of income. I needed to simply stop.” And with that, she slapped the table again. I was starting to think that she must exercise a lot—and probably should in order to channel some of that intensity.
“When I finally was able to clear my mind of all action, negative thoughts, and preconceived notions,” she continued, “I allowed my mind to float. It floated up, out, and everywhere. I had no direction, no reason to think one thing or another. I just let it float. In so doing, I allowed my mind to relax. In turn, this helped my body relax. And then I did the most important first step in one’s journey to success.” She paused and looked at me. She may have put her hands on mine or perhaps it just felt like it. She was intense. She leaned in just a touch, providing more emphasis on what followed.
“I allowed myself to imagine what it would be like to earn $1 million per year. I visualised myself earning this amount. I saw the cash version of monies being delivered to me. I saw the bank transfer the money into my account online. I saw a cheque with my name on it for $1 million. I saw it, and I embraced it. I didn’t spend it. I just visualised it. I allowed myself to become used to the idea that $1 million was due to me and that I was earning it. How, where, and other details were not going to mess up my visualisation. I just visualised and made it real in my mind.”
Then she was silent. I was silent. She was looking at me. I was not sure if I should match her stare. I was here to interview her, not on a date. Besides, my wife and son were sitting at the same table as us. I later learned that this was her nature. She had a raw intensity that she embraced and channelled towards her objectives.
I learned that once she had become “a believer” and truly visualised her objective, the strategy to get her there took form. She realised that she was a team player and needed to find the right people to fill in the weakness that she had and augment her strengths. Her strengths were intensity of focus, being incredibly fit, and having a unique “look” that would distinguish herself in a crowd or as an image in the wider market.
She had a basic education and even took a year and a bit of university before dropping out and going her own way. Her own way wasn’t doing too well. It was just by chance that she saw a news clip of Bill Clinton’s pledge. It hit her like nothing before. She realised that she only had a limited time to make her mark and earning just enough of a salary to (barely) pay her rent and food bill was not going to do it. She needed a plan.
I looked at my son. He was grinning. I looked at my wife. She was nodding almost imperceptibly.
“Welcome aboard.” I extended my hand to Jane. “Let’s see how things go and then we can talk further.”
Mr. Kingston was smiling now. He seemed to relish that story. It was his version of finding a lucky four-leafed clover or a rare coin or a lost Picasso. Jane was the missing link, and he was proud to have been part of the journey. I remembered that Mr. Black had that same look of pride that Mr. Kingston now held. I knew then that the road to wealth required some x-factor that is only known when seen and seen only after seemingly unending effort.
We found that this was the missing link. There was a great chemistry between Oscar and Jane. There was also a great chemistry between Jane and her viewers. Oscar was a hunk, and people generally liked that—women wanted him and men wanted to be like him (some men wanted him too—but we were happy with any demographic). But Jane was different. Both men and women were mesmerised by her. I remember the phenomenal success that Bay Watch achieved in Asia. I started to think that this combination might provide us with a route to our objective.
It took us over three years and all of our budget (and then some), but we finally were able to achieve sufficient coverage to claim to be a globally recognised format. Once we were able to measure those numbers, we were able to negotiate with distributors and sponsors—who always want to be part of a winning team.
Here are the lessons we learned:
1. Get the team right. Ensure that everyone is fully motivated with aligned interests.
2. Get the objective, strategy, and tactics right. Without an objective clearly defined, there is no purpose behind your energy. Without a strategy, you can’t map out the way you intend to reach your objective. Tactics are essential as you roll with the punches that life throws you between your start and your objective.
3. Visualise and see yourself achieving your objective. Jane was right. We took on her suggestions and ensured that our visualisations were rock solid.
4. There are a million ways to achieve success. Be true to yourself and pursue ventures that emphasise who you are.
5. You don’t need to set your goal at $1 million per year. I would have been happy with $10,000 per month, but the team adopted Jane’s objective and we have achieved it. Aim high, but aim high for you. If you can’t visualise it, then it is just a number. It only becomes real when you are able to make it real.
Chapter Fourteen
A Conversation with Jerry
“But I don’t want to be so rich,” Jerry said to me. He looked into his coffee and stirred another sugar into it absent-mindedly.
Jerry was a young university graduate who I knew growing up. He lived four houses down on the same street as me; I used to have a crush on his sister. She was now married with four kids and had moved to live in Australia with her husband. Jerry had just graduated with a general degree in the Arts and just wanted to live rather than become a slave to the dollar.
“Then don’t,” I replied. “You don’t need to do anything that you don’t want to do. All I was saying is that wealth of some level provides you with the freedom to pursue your other interests. Establish what you feel you need to live on and make that your objective. Perhaps you need to have a goal of $5,000 per month. Great. It is a very realistic goal.”
“You make everything sound so easy. It isn’t.” Jerry was demoralised. He had been looking for a job for the last two years, and there was nothing—even though he had a university degree. It seemed to mean nothing to employers.
“Let me repeat to you what a friend told me recently with regards to money: ‘Better to earn $500 per month of your own money than $5,000 per month as an employee.’ Recalibrate your goals to a level that you can visualise and make it real in your mind. You want to be an artist? Well, it has been said that the only independent thought comes from independent wealth. Free yourself from the dependence on others and allow yourself to open your artistic spigots.”
This made some impression on Jerry, but he wasn’t convinced. “OK. But how am I supposed to achieve even $500 per month? I don’t know how to do anything.”
“Well,” I said, getting a little upset but just enough to convey my impatience with his apathy, “you have to first want something. Money is nothing. It is the means to your ends. Pursue your art. Pursue some form of money wealth. Whatever you do, you must want it first. When your will is resolute, everything else will follow. No one will simply hand you a cheque every month so that you can do nothing.”
“OK. What should I do next?” Jerry looked at me.
“Figure it out. It’s not that hard. An alcoholic can only get help after he understands that he has a problem and reaches out for genuine help—not just hand-outs. You don’t have any wealth, and you can only get help when you truly understand that you have a problem and reach out for genuine help.” I was getting up from the table. I put down some cash to cover the costs of our coffees.
“Call me when you have figured out what you really want to do.”
What are the general lessons from this?
• If you are looking for advice, listen.
• If you are talking to someone you respect, listen. Don’t ramble on trying to impress him/her with what you think you know. All you are doing is demonstrating what you don’t know and your lack of wisdom.
• If you are apathetic or thoroughly demoralised, try to not let this poison your relations with potential mentors. Remember that the world is full of negativity. Being positive does not change the world, but it makes it easier for people to deal with you. Being positive is part of being receptive. If you want to learn, you need to make yourself receptive.
Chapter Fifteen
King Rat
I met Theo almost a year ago. I have learned to open my mind and recalibrate my thinking processes. I have set my goals and I keep my ear to the ground for opportunities. I have learned to listen to people’s stories and try to glean what I can from them.
The following is a story that I wrote for Theo’s father as a thank-you for the time and affection that he showed me. It was written so that I could demonstrate to him what I have learned from him.
Next to a big granary, builders installed deep concrete trenches to drain away the rain and provide a barrier against the bigger farm animals coming to feed on the grain stores. This particular granary was next to a large field where cows and horses and goats and sheep all enjoyed the sweetness of the plentiful grass that grew quickly. The problem with cows and horses and goats and sheep is that they also like grain. The builders noticed that if they didn’t figure out a way to stop the animals walking from the field into the elevator, they wouldn’t have any grain in the granary to sell. They tried fences, but the powerful aroma of the fresh grain was too much for the animals to resist. The builders devised a simple and very effective way to resolve this.
Usually, animals with hooves do not like to put their feet on grates or any surface that they feel uncomfortable with. But these animals were special. They wouldn’t stop at just a grate. So the builders determined that they would create a maze of trenches that would encircle the grain elevator and drain into the town’s ditches, which in turn, drained into the mighty river that flowed relatively near the town but still very far from the granary. As this granary was special—it was the biggest one that anyone knew of far and wide—they decided to make this trench as much a work of art as a functional moat and security feature.
This set of mazes had troughs that were 40 inches deep and 60 inches wide. There were at least four troughs and each “wall” between the troughs was 24 inches wide. The total width of this trenching system was 26 feet, and the distance was enormous. It encircled the entire granary, and this particular granary was the single largest granary in the entire country.
Some said that the distance of the trenches was measured in miles. Some said that the trenches were excessive and really didn’t need to be large enough to drive vehicles in. The builders built it like this to ensure that any flash floods or storms or any catastrophe would never touch their most valuable store of food. Some whispered that they built it this big because of the bill that they could charge to the granary’s absent owners.
The trenches were built, and the granary was successful. It was busy all the time and especially so during the harvest seasons. During the harvest seasons, trucks ready to deposit their grain were lined up for miles, and the process of depositing grain went on 24 hours a day. During the rest of the year, things were always happening around the granary, but not to such an extent.
During the very busy seasons, grain went everywhere and the grain dust settled on everything. The trenches enjoyed a light dusting of this grain dust, but no one took any notice of it. The trenches seemed to clean themselves. Obviously, people thought, the builders did a very good job. As it didn’t bother anyone, the majestic scene of the trenches became almost invisible to people. It worked. The rain must be keeping everything clean, people thought.
But it wasn’t the rain that kept everything looking clean and tidy. It was the rats.
The rats didn’t always live next to the granary. Their appearance in the trenches was an accident. It happened when a rat catcher was driving his big truck full of rats and accidently turned left instead of right. He almost drove into the granary, but at the last moment, he quickly realised his mistake and drove out and back onto the main road.
What he didn’t realise until much later was that his back door to his big truck full of rats somehow opened up when he was turning around at the granary. The rats fell out of the truck and into the trenches. Some fell on the walls, but most fell into the trenches. The rat catcher only realised that he had lost his truck full of rats when he arrived home and saw that his truck was empty. As there was no way for him to know where he had lost the rats, he decided to not make enquiries and simply let the matter rest.
So this is how the rats found themselves in the massive world of the trenches. They didn’t know that it was a trench because they couldn’t see anything more than the path ahead of them and the walls around them. Some rats that landed on the wall went down to join their fellow rats in the trough, but the rest remained on the wall when they realised that there was no way to get out of the trough once they were in the trough. What mattered for all of the rats was that there was lots of food everywhere and that they were free.
The rats loved it. Eventually they started referring to each other as lower level rats and upper level rats. They could talk to each other if they looked up and down on each other respectively. But for the first few months, all they could do was eat the grain, the grain dust, and anything else that blew into this haven of glorious abundant food.
Because the trenches were so extensive, the rats would spread out in search of food. Like-minded rats congregated together to enjoy each other’s company and conversation. Most importantly, they loved the food. It made them healthy, fat, and content. The lower levels didn’t bother knowing much about the upper levels and vice versa. Everyone was prosperous. Everyone was happy.
As luck would have it, when the rat truck accidently deposited the rats into the trenches, the rats fell across all four trenches and the three internal walls. As it worked out, 100 rats fell into the trench for every 1 rat that fell onto the wall. But the rats that fell into the trenches did not fall evenly across the four troughs. For every 100 rats that fell into the troughs, 15 fell into the one closest to the field, 30 rats fell into the next trough, 50 fell into the trough after that and only 5 fell into the trough closest to the granary. The various rats soon became known as the Fieldlings, Nextlings, Middlings, and the Grans respectively
But for the first few months, no one cared. There was food enough for everyone.
When the season for delivering grain was over, the trucks stopped coming. The granary had lots of food in it and would ship this out via specially designed containers pulled along steel tracks. There was a big noisy engine on the front, sometimes two. The good news for the rats was that when the grain was loaded onto the trains there was some inevitable spillage. This was a good time for the rats.
But even those good times came to an end. The rats faced a period where all they could do was lick up the grain dust and search the Grand Trench, stuck in their specific trough and unable to meet their fellow rats in the other troughs. They searched and scoured over every inch of the Grand Trench—the walls, the floor, and all around the wide expanse that was the Grand Trench. For those in the troughs, times were tough. There was a lot of weight loss. Many rats died. They didn’t know how they would survive. There was no way out of the trough. It was a race to stay alive. A race to find morsels of food before others. A battle to ensure that they did not become food for others.
For those on the wall—the Upper Levellers—things were different. They never ran out of food. For one thing, they didn’t have as many rats competing for their food. There was an abundance—even after the trucks and trains finished coming. The smarter ones combined together to form groups and began to collect and share their food. This allowed the rats who were better suited to gathering the food to gather, while the rats who were better suited to protecting the food to protect it. All of the rats on the wall survived. In fact, they thrived.
They looked down on their starving fellow rats with pity. They didn’t understand why the Lower Levellers didn’t work together; why didn’t they help each other? The Upper Levellers didn’t realise that the same amount of food resided on the walls as on the floors of the trough. Nor did the Upper Levellers realise that they were only 1% of the population of the lower level rats. They simply had more to share in fewer mouths.
Some of the Lower Levellers did well enough and emulated the upper level rats. The Grans did exceptionally well. They had more than enough food and began forming a system of gathering the grain and storing it in safe places in their domain, away from rain and the birds. The birds started coming in from nowhere and attacking their hard found wealth. They devised a system to store the grain and stationed guards to prevent non-Grans from access to the grain. They did this out of a natural sense of self-preservation.
The Fieldlings also did this, but to a lesser extent as they had more mouths to feed. Yet they were prosperous and enjoyed the occasional morsel from the adjoining field as well. They stored the grain and the morsels of grass and even the occasional bits of manure from the adjoining animals. They stored these precious piles in safe places for future use. Years of hunger ensured that they wanted to eat well through good times and bad.
The Nextlings and Middlings didn’t have these luxuries. They ate everything that was there and eventually ran out of food three months after the season finished. It would be six months before the next trucks and trains would appear. If they didn’t come up with a solution, they would starve. Luckily for them, one lowly rat was inspired and had the will to persevere.
As their fellow rats began to starve, a group of industrious rats decided to see if they could get to the top of the wall. It was too high for just one of them to jump, and there was no way for them to climb it. One Middling rat eventually saw a pile of dead rats (which were piled up away from the others) and used this pile to climb to the top of the wall. Many of the other lower levellers decried his foolhardy tactics. They felt that he would die an even worse death. He was told that it would be better to stick with the world that they knew rather than risk an even worse death. After he climbed up, the remaining lower levellers ate the dead bodies out of sheer desperation. The result was that no other rats followed him.
When he reached the top, the Middling rat was amazed at what he saw. He was terrified initially as he looked down into the trough that was the domain of the Middlings and down into the trough that was the domain of the Grans. He hurried along the top of the wall until he came to the Upper Levellers. He tried to get them to give him some food. He was met with angry snarls and chased away.
He carried on walking, looking down at his fellow Middlings starving on one side, the Upper Levellers around him, and the domain of the Grans on the other side. He saw a Gran and called out to him. After some explanation of the plight being faced by himself and his fellow Middlingers, the Gran rat proposed an interesting solution. His fellow rats had huge stores of grain, more than they could ever eat. He was happy to lend Mr. Rat (as he called him) half of his grain store on the basis that Mr. Rat would return the same amount of grain during the next “harvest” of the giants (as they all called the humans with the trucks and trains) PLUS 5 grains of profit for every 100 grains loaned. Mr Rat agreed although he was not sure if he would be able to provide the profit required. He had to take the risk—the alternative being that he and his fellow Middlingers would starve.
Mr. Rat then went to the Middling trough and said that he had found a source of food for everyone that will last until the next supply of food came in. He explained that he could lend the Middlings the grain until the next season, BUT he needed to get all of the grain back PLUS 10 grains for every 100 grains lent. Mr. Rat could have set any terms to his starving fellow Middlingers, but he figured that a fair return would at least give them a chance to pay it back.
In this fashion, the Middlings didn’t starve and Mr. Rat became very rich. He brokered the grain and followed this pattern each season until he became the richest rat in the Great Trench. Eventually, even the Upper Levellers trusted him enough to broker their grain with the starving Middlings.
As circumstances would have it, another rat of the Nextlings domain found his way onto the wall between the Nextlings and the Fieldlings. He was eventually also called Mr. Rat (which would have been very confusing, but as neither of the Mr. Rats ever talked to each other due to the distance, there were no problems). He was greedier than Mr. Rat Middling and tried to broker a deal where he charged the Nextlings 50 grains of interest for every 100 grains of grain. The Nextlings agreed because they had no choice. But, after two seasons, a popular revolt took place, and Mr. Rat Nextling was dragged into the trough and eaten by the Nextling mob. Whispers had eventually reached the Nextlings of the deal that Mr. Rat Middling had brokered, and they demanded the same terms.
Mr. Rat Middling found himself in a difficult position. He had the trust of the Grans and the Upper Levellers, but he couldn’t get the grain to the starving Nextlings. He needed to expand his operation, and he needed to find trustworthy rats. During the next grain loan distribution, he noticed a couple of rats who had displayed loyalty and honesty in their distribution of Mr. Rat Middling’s grain.
He talked furtively to them and explained how they could get onto the other walls. In this fashion, he was able to conduct his business across all three internal walls and distribute the grain from the Grans, Upper Levellers, and the Fieldlings to the Nextlings and Middlings. He called his enterprise the Middling Grain Bank and was able to establish his own stores in a safe place on the three walls—safe from the rain and birds and other Upper Levellers (who didn’t seem to bother with brokerage or any form of trade at all).
Over time, Mr. Rat Middling found a wife and had a family, which he was keen to teach the virtues of honest trade and opportunity. His lieutenants also had families, and they also taught the secrets of trade, wealth, and the responsibility to the communities of all the domains. The Middling Grain Bank became the basis of strength and certainty for all of the rats as they redistributed the grain and ensured that no rat starved. It was only a matter of time before they bestowed upon Mr. Rat Middling a more fitting title: King Rat.
As you can imagine in a world full of rats, there were some less-than-honourable rats who tried to kill and better themselves through sheer violence and terror. These rats did well within the troughs and some even managed to get onto the walls. King Rat had to always act with caution and eventually felt that a greater amount of rules needed to be agreed to by the vast population of rats if they were to survive the new plague of bad rats.
This is another story for another time, but needless to say, some form of rules and order were established. There were always bad rats. There were always lowly rats, starving and trying to survive from day to day. There were the old-grain upper levellers who still managed to survive, but their lack of interest in work eventually led to them being reduced to menial roles. Some of their descendants even fell into the trough, never to return to their former glory (but always reminding fellow rats that they were descendants of upper levellers). Lower levellers who were dissatisfied with their lives learned to look upwards towards the sky and the upper levels. Some of those made it, many didn’t.
Many of the bad rats and even the old-grain Upper Levellers preferred that the Lower Levellers stay in their place. They preferred the Lower Levellers to keep their heads down and focus purely on finding food. They wanted the “trough rats” (as they called them) to grumble, fight, and scuffle amongst themselves when things got bad—but not to have the will to lift their gaze upwards. It was in the interest of the wall rats for the trough rats to not have a will to try. Without King Rat, this may have actually transpired.
But there was a King Rat. He showed everyone what one rat with a will could do. The Great Trench would never be the same.
I put my pen down. I looked forward to giving this story to Theo and his father. I even wondered whether they would share this story of King Rat to the next person they decided to mentor. It was meant as a homage to my new friends and mentors. I wanted to now participate in my learning. I wanted to make the transition from passive recipient to active player. My next step was to implement my lessons in the real world.
But that story is for another time.

Elle me regardait à ce moment. Impatiemment. Pouvait-elle lire dans mes pensées? Étais-je entrain de la fixer du regard? Entre autres choses, je regardais ses tatouages; Mais le regard, peut-on vraiment le contrôler, peut-être..."hm"? J'essayai.
"Qu'en pensez-vous?" avait-elle réitéré.
Je crois que j'avais cessé de l'écouter pendant que je me noyais dans ses tatouages. Rapidement, j'essayai de revenir sur terre et de me souvenir de ses dernières phrases. "Oui. Et ça vous engage,” disais-je d'un ton joueur. Quand j'étais élève, j'ai appris qu'il était nécessaire d'étudier son enseignant autant que ses leçons, parce qu'il était le correcteur et c'était ses préjugés qui vous servait de passeport à une bonne mention.
Ici, je parias qu'elle voulait que j'épouse son idée ou que je répète sa dernière phrase. J'espérai que ce ne fut pas une ruse pour essayer de me rabaisser. En tournant autour du pot, elle aurait cru que j'avais compris et que je partageait son avis. Si elle ne croyait pas assez à mon intelligence, elle m'aurait mis au pied du mur. Soit elle croyait à mon c intelligence, soit par politesse ne voulait pas m'embarrasser .
"Effectivement" ajouta-t-elle. Ses yeux scintillaient quand elle me regardait droit dans les yeux. Ses mains avaient frappé la table qui se trouvait entre nous et l'eau que je buvais bougea légèrement. "Je ne pouvais l'imaginer, et du coup je ne pouvais le faire ainsi." Elle me regardait d'un air approbateur, et elle faisait un signe de tête affirmatif subtilement.
"L'idée précède l'action. la pensée est un préalable à la réussite." J'offrais ainsi ce que j'avais appris ma carrière durant dans la publicité.
"Cela est plus important que nombreux s'en rendent compte", martela-t-elle. Malgré moi même, elle me plaisais davantage. Elle paraissait étrange, mais l'intensité des mouvement de son corps et de ses yeux éliminèrent mon apathie pour elle et me plongèrent dans sa sphère. Du coup, j'étais excité pour la simple raison qu'elle l'était aussi -pleine d'énergie.
"Il était temps que j'arrête d'être pessimiste et de m'interroger pourquoi je n'arrivais pas à atteindre le seuil d'un million de dollar par an. Il fallait que j'arrête même de voir dans quelle mesure je pouvais réaliser ce revenu. Je devais juste cesser d'y penser. M'ayant suivi, elle frappa la table une fois de plus. Je commençais à penser qu'elle faisait beaucoup de sport -et devrait probablement le faire pour canaliser son intensité.
"Finalement, lorsque je pus me débarrasser de toutes les actions, les pensées négatives et les préjugés," poursuit-elle, "mes pensées s'envolaient. Elles fusaient de partout. Je n'avais aucune orientation ou raison de penser à l'une ou l'autre chose. Je leur donnai juste le libre cours. Ainsi, mes pensées purent s'appaiser. et mon corps par la suite. Et en retour, je fis un pas décisif dans mon voyage vers le succès." Elle s'arrêta un instant et me fixa. Cela aurait pu arriver ainsi. Elle était acharnée. Elle s'évertua à mettre en relief ses paroles.
"Je m'étais permise d'imaginer ce qu'il était de gagner un million de dollar par an. Je m'imaginais entrain de gagner cet argent. Je voyais de l'argent liquide à moi offert. Je voyais la banque transférer cet argent dans mon compte électronique Je voyais mon nom inscrit sur un chèque. Je le voyais et je le baisais de la bouche. Je ne l'avais pas dépensé. Je ne faisais que le contempler. Je m'étais permise de me faire l'idée selon laquelle cette somme m'appartenait et j'étais entrain de la gagner. Comment? où? et bien d'autres détails. Je ne faisais que visualiser la situation et la rendre concrète
Alors elle resta silencieuse J'étais silencieux. Elle me regardait. Je me demandais si je devais la regarder aussi. J'y était pour l'interviewer, et non pour un rendez-vous galant. Pis encore, nous partagions la même table avec ma femme et mon fils. Plus tard, j'appris que c'était dans sa nature. Elle a su s'approprier sa vive intensité et la mettre à contribution pour atteindre ses objectifs.
J'appris qu'une fois elle était devenue une "croyante" et avait vraiment visualisé son objectif, les stratégies pour y parvenir prirent forme. Elle réalisa qu'elle avait un esprit s'équipe et qu'il était nécessaire de trouver les personnes adéquate pour combler ses lacunes et augmenter ses forces -sens inouï de la précision, capacités extraordinaires, "regard" unique- qui la distingueraient dans une foule ou dans un marché immense.
Elle avait fait le cycle primaire et secondaire ainsi et un peu plus d'une année à l'université avant d'abandonner et de s'engager à son propre compte. Rien ne marchait pour elle. C'est par inadvertance qu'elle regarda un reportage télévisé sur la promesse électorale de Bill Clinton Elle en fut fortement marquée. Elle se rendit compte qu'elle n'avait que peu de temps pour se faire distinguer et gagner assez d'argent pour payer son loyer et de quoi manger. Il fallait un stratagème.
Je regardai mon fils. Il faisait un grand sourire. Je regardai ma femme. Elle faisait imperceptiblement un signe de la tête.
"Bienvenu à bord." Je tendis la main à Jane. "Voyons si tout va bien, comme ça nous discuterons plus tard."
M. Kingston souriait en ce moment. Il savourait cette histoire, paraissait-il. Surtout celle où il fallait chercher une trèfle de quatre feuilles, ou une pièce rare, ou encore un Picasso perdu. Jane était la pièce manquante et il était fier d'avoir fait partie du voyage. Je m'étais rappelé que l'expression de joie qu'avait M. Black fut la même qu'avait M. Kingston à ce moment. Je savais que la voie de la richesse nécessitait un élément x dont la nature est déterminé lorsqu'on l'a et semblerait-il après des efforts inutiles.
Nous nous rendirent compte que c'était le lien manquant. Il y avait une grande affinité entre Oscar et Jane ainsi qu'entre cette dernière et ses spectateurs. Oscar était un gros calibre, et généralement, les gens en raffolaient-les femmes l'enviaient ( certains hommes également -mais nous étions fiers des statistiques.) Mais Jane était différente. Les hommes et les femmes étaient tous fascinés par elle. Je me souviens du succès phénoménal de Bay Watch en Asie. Je commençais à croire que cette collaboration aurait pu nous aider à atteindre notre objectif.
Cela nous avait pris trois ans et coûté tout notre budget (et même plus), mais nous avions pu atteindre une couverture satisfaisante pour prétendre à l'échelle mondiale. Une fois que nous étions capables de définir ces chiffres, nous avons engagé des négociations avec les distributeurs et les sponsors -qui veulent toujours être de l'équipe gagnante.
Voici les secrets que nous avons appris:
1. Mobiliser les ressources humaines. S'assurer que tout le monde est motivé.
2. Définir les objectifs, les stratégies et les tactiques. Si les objectifs ne sont pas clairement définis, vos efforts seront vains. S'il n'y a pas de stratégies, vous ne pourrez atteindre vos objectifs. Les tactiques sont importantes vu les obstacles auxquels vous vous heurtez entre le début de votre projet et l'atteinte de vos objectifs.
3. Imagine toi entrain d'atteindre ton objectif. Jane avait raison. Dès lors, nous prîmes ses suggestions en compte et nous renforçâmes nos visualisations.
4. Il existe mille et une manière de réussir. Sois vrai envers toi même et engage des projets qui rehaussent ton identité.
5. Tu n'as pas besoin de placer la barre à un million de dollar par an. Gagner 10 000 dollars par an m'aurait satisfait, mais l'équipe avait adopté l'objectif de Jane et nous y sommes parvenus. Vise grand, mais vise grand pour toi-même. Si tu ne peux pas le visualiser sache qu'il s'agit juste d'un chiffre. Il ne devient réel que lorsque tu le concrétises.
Chapitre 14
Un échange avec Jerry
Jerry dit: "Mais je ne veux pas être riche à ce point." Il regarda sa tasse de café, et d'un air distrait, y lança un morceau de sucre d'un air distrait.
Il était un diplômé de l'université dont je connaissais le parcours. Il vivait quatre maisons plus bas que moi sur la même rue; A l'époque j'avais un béguin pour sa sœur. Elle était mariée et vivait désormais avec son Mari et ses quatre enfants en Australie. Jerry venait d'avoir une licence en arts et tout ce qu'il voulait c'était vivre, que de devenir un esclave du dollar.
"Pas question", répondis je. "Ce n'est pas la peine de faire quelque chose contre ta volonté. Je disais qu'une modeste richesse, te permet de poursuivre les intérêts que tu veux. Définis un plan pour ta vie et fais en ton objectif; Peut être voudrais tu avoir 5 000 dollars par mois. Tant mieux. C'est un but réaliste."
"Tout semble si facile pour toi. Et pourtant il n'en est rien." Jerry était démoralisé. Ça faisait deux ans qu'il recherchait un emploi en vain,alors qu'il était diplômé. Les employeurs semblaient minimiser son niveau.
"Écoute bien ce qu'un ami m'a dit dernièrement au sujet de l'argent: 'Il vaut mieux gagner 500 dollars par mois personnellement que de gagner 5 000 dollars comme employé’ Reformule ton objectif de manière à pouvoir les visualiser et le rendre réel dans ton esprit. Tu veux être un artiste? Eh bien, comme il est dit, la seule pensée indépendante découle d'une richesse indépendante. Ne sois pas dépendant des autres, et laisse éclore tes talents artistiques."
Jerry en était touché mais il n'était pas convaincu. "D'accord. Mais comment suis-je sensé gagner même 500 dollars par mois? Je n'ai aucune qualification."
Alors que son indifférence commençait à m'écœurer je lui dis: "Il suffit d'emblée de vouloir quelque chose. L'argent ce n'est rien. C'est un moyen pour parvenir à tes fins. Développe ton art. Développe une certaine richesse. Quelque soit ce que tu voudrais faire, tu dois d'abord le désirer. Quand il y a la volonté, les choses vont bon train. Personne ne te donnera un chèque à la fin de chaque mois pour que tu ne fasses rien.
"D'accord. Ensuite?" Jerry me regarda.
Réfléchis y. Ce n'est pas si difficile que ça. Un alcoolique ne peut s'en sortir que s'il se rend compte de son problème et cherche résolument de l'aide -et non de l'aide seulement. Tu n'es pas riche, et tu t'en sortirais si tu comprend que tu as un problème et cherche résolument de l'aide. Avant de me lever, Je déposai de l'argent pour notre café.
"Appelle moi quand tu auras décidé de ce que tu feras."
Qu'est ce qu'on retient en général?
• Lorsque tu as besoin d'un conseil, écoute.
• Lorsque tu parles à quelqu'un que tu respectes, écoute-le. C'est pas la peine d'essayer de l'impressionner avec ce que tu crois connaitre. Au contraire, tu serais entrain de prouver à quel point tu esignorant et manques de sagesse.
• Si tu es indifférent et profondément démoralisé, ne laisse pas cet état d'âme fragiliser tes relations avec un potentiel mentor. Souviens -toi que le pessimisme est la chose du monde la mieux partagée. Rester positif ne change pas le monde, mais ça facilite les rapports avec ceux qui veulent traiter avec toi. Être positif c'est être réceptif. Si tu veux apprendre, il faut être réceptif.
Chapitre 15
Le Roi Rat
J'ai rencontré Théo il y a un an environ. J'ai appris à être ouvert d'esprit et à refaçonner ma manière. J'ai défini mes objectifs et je reste à l'écoute pour les opportunités. J'ai appris à écouter les autres et à m'enrichir de leurs expériences.
J'ai dédiée l'histoire suivante au père de Théo en remerciement pour le temps qu'il m'a consacré et son affection. Je l'ai écrite pour lui prouver que j'ai appris de lui.
A coté d'un grand grenier, les entrepreneurs avait installé les fossés très profonds pour canaliser les eaux de précipitations et empêcher les animaux de ferme de se nourrir des silos à grain. Ce grenier précis se trouvait près d'un champ où les vaches, les chevaux, les chèvres et les moutons bénéficiaient de la fraicheur et de l'abondance des herbes qui poussaient rapidement. Le problème avec ces animaux c'est qu'ils aiment aussi les graines. Alors les entrepreneurs ont pensé qu'il fallait trouver un moyen pour les empêcher d'envahir le grenier, sinon ils n'y aurait plus de graines à vendre. Ils essayèrent de construire une clôture, mais les animaux ne pouvaient résister à l'arôme forte des graines fraîches. Alors ces entrepreneurs définirent une stratégie plus simple et effective pour pallier ce problème.
Généralement, les animaux avec les sabots n'aiment pas s'aventurer sur un grillage ou une surface qui les rendrait mal à l'aise. Mais encore, ces animaux était uniques en leur genre car le grillage ne constituait pas un frein pour eux. Ces mêmes entrepreneurs jugèrent bon de créer un labyrinthe de fossés qui encerclerait le silo et se viderait dans le fossé de la ville, qui à son tour se déverserait dans le grand fleuve qui coule relativement à coté de la ville, mais alors très loin dudit silo. L'extraordinaire silo -vu qu'il était le plus grand qu'on n'aurait jamais vu- les emmena à faire de ce fossé une œuvre d'art qu'une douve ou une mesure de sécurité.
Il était composé de quatre auges dont 40m de profondeur et 60 m de largeur chacune. Et chaque "mur" qui les séparait était de 24m de large. La largeur totale de ce système de tranchée était de 7m environ et la distance était impressionnante. Il entourait tout le silo, et ce dernier était le seul et la plus importante de toute la contrée.
Pour certains, la distance était mesurée en kilomètres. Pour d'autres, les fossés était exagérément large et ce n'était pas la peine de les construire aussi large pour faire entrer les véhicules. En le construisant, les entrepreneurs voulaient s'assurer que leur plus important grenier serait exempt des crues subites, de l'orage, ou encore toute autre catastrophe. Selon les rumeurs, ils l'avaient construit aussi grand parce que les frais était à la charge ses propriétaires absents.
Les fossés était construits et le silo était un succès. Il était opérationnel à plein temps et davantage pendant la saison de récolte. Pendant cette saison, les camions prêts à déposer leurs céréales étaient alignés sur des kilomètres, et le processus c'était 24h/24 Durant le reste de l'année, les activités se poursuivaient mais à un rythme modéré.
La saison de pointe était caractérisée par la présence des céréales et de leur poussière partout. Personne ne se rendait compte que les minces couches de poussière se déposaient sur les fossés. On aurait cru que les fossés se nettoyaient seuls. Et bien évidement les gens se sont félicité du travail des concepteurs. Puisque n'aurait molesté personne, l'extraordinaire scène des fossés se passait inaperçu. Tout se passait comme prévu. Certains avaient pensé que c'est la pluie qui nettoyaient tout.
Mais il n'en était pas le cas. C'était les rats.
Ils ne vivaient pas toujours près du silo. Leur présence dans les fossés était fortuite. Cela arriva lorsqu'un chasseur de rats tourna son camion plein de ces rongeurs à gauche qu'à droite. Il s'était presque retrouvé dans le silo quand il se rendit subitement compte de son erreur et fit marche arrière pour regagner la route principale.
Mais il n'avait pas réalisé jusque là que la portière arrière de son gros engin plein de rats était ouverte quand il franchissait le silo. Dès lors, les rats tombèrent du camion et rejoignirent les fossés. Certains étaient tombés sur les murs, mais la plupart s'étaient retrouvés à l'intérieur. Le chasseur de rat constata à son arrivée chez lui qu'il avait perdu tous ses rats. Et puisqu'il n'avait aucune idée de l'endroit où ils lui avaient échappé, il laissa tomber l'affaire.
C'est ainsi que les rats s'étaient retrouvés dans le monde des fossés. Ils ne savaient pas que c'était un fossé parce qu'ils ne voyaient rien d'autre que la route éperdu et les murs autour d'eux. Les rats qui se trouvaient sur le mur voulaient rejoindre les autres dans l'auge; cependant le restedemeura sur le mur après s'être rendus compte qu'une fois y étant, on ne pouvait plus ressortir. Le plus important pour eux c'était l'abondance de la pitance et leur liberté.
Ils en raffolaient. Ils finirent par se distinguer comme les rats du niveau inférieur et ceux du niveau supérieur. Ils pouvaient se parler. Il suffisait de lever la tête ou de la baisser respectivement. Mais pendant les quelques premiers mois, Ils se contentaient de manger les céréales, la poussière de ces graines et tout ce qui se trouvaient dans cette source intarissable de nourriture.
Les fossés était tellement grands que les rats étaient contraints de se disperser pour chercher de quoi manger. Les rats qui éprouvaient de la sympathie, l'un envers l'autre, se rassemblaient pour passer le temps ensemble et discuter. Le plus important c'est qu'ils aimaient manger. Alors ils étaient en bonne santé, gros et contents. La Les rats de niveau inférieur ne s'occupait pas de ceux du niveau inférieur et vice versa. La prospérité et le bonheur étaient au rendez-vous.
Par chance, quand le camion de rats avait déposé accidentellement les rats dans les fossés, les rats étaient tombé dans toutes les tranchées et les trois murs internes. Alors que le chasseur ressortait, 100 rats se trouvèrent dans la tranchée, contre un sur le mur. Mais ceux qui étaient tombés dans les tranchées ne s'étaient pas retrouvés proportionnellement dans les auges. Sur 100 rats tombés dans les auges, 15 se trouvaient dans l'un des plus proches du champ, 30 dans le prochain, 50 dans le suivant et seulement 5 dans l'abreuvoir le plus proche du silo. Les différents rats portaient diverses étiquettes telles que les "Fieldings", les "Middlings", les "Nextlings" et les "Grans" respectivement.
Mais pendant les premiers mois, tout le monde était serein. Il y avait assez de nourriture pour tout le monde.
Après la saison de livraison, les camions n'arrivaient plus. Le silo avait plein de nourriture et elle était mise à disposition n grâce à des containers en acier fabriqués à cet effet. Ces containers étaient dotés soit d'un ou de deux moteurs bruyant. Heureusement pour les rats, ils laissaient tomber des graines lorsqu'ils étaient chargés. C'était une aubaine pour les rats.
Mais ce fut prompt. Il arriva un moment où ils ne se contentaient que de savourer la poussière des graines, de fouiller les graines stockés dans leurs auges respectifs et aussi étaient-ils privés de la compagnie de leurs compères. Ils ratissèrent chaque centime du grand fossé: les murs, le sol, et tous les recoins. C'était la période de vache maigre pour ceux qui habitaient les auges. Ils perdaient énormément le poids. Certains en mouraient. Ils ne savaient plus comment survivre Pas moyen de sortir de l'auge. Il fallait se battre pour survivre; Se battre pour avoir une bouchée de nourriture avant les autres; Se battre pour ne pas être la proie des autres.
Ceux du niveau supérieur par contre ne se souciaient de rien. Ils n'avaient connu de pénurie pour la simple raison qu'ily avait plus de nourriture que de rats. Ils vivaient dans l'abondance, même durant la période morte Les plus sages avaient commencé à se regrouper pour amasser et partager leur nourriture. Ainsi, avait-on des rats mieux qualifiés qui étaient chargés respectivement d'amasser la nourriture et de la sécuriser. Tous ceux qui vivaient sur le mur avaient tous survécu. En effet, ils se portaient comme un charme.
Ils éprouvaient de la pitié pour ceux du niveau inférieur. Ils se demandaient pourquoi ceux là ne coordonnaient pas leurs efforts pour s'entraider. Ils ne se rendaient pas comte qu'en fait il y avait autant de nourriture sur les murs que dans les auges; et qu'ils ne constituait qu'un pour cent de la population du niveau inférieur. Ils avaient de la pitance en abondance.
Les rats du niveau inférieur avaient eu l'ingénieuse idée d'imiter ceux d'en haut. les 'Grans' notamment s'en étaient sortis. Ils avaient désormais assez de nourriture et avaient formé tout un système de collecte et de stockage de nourriture en lieu sûr dans leur domaine, à l'abri de la pluie et des oiseaux. Ces derniers, venant de nulle part, commençaient à s'attaquer à leur richesse, si durement acquise. Le système était tel que les réserves étaient protégés par les gardes pour empêcher les étrangers d'y accéder. Ils avaient en effet développé un instinct de conservation.
Les 'Fieldings' avaient adopté ce système mais il était faible, vu qu'ils avaient plus de bouches à nourrir. Cependant, ils étaient prospères et savouraient la nourriture qui venait même d'ailleurs. Ils stockaient les grains et les herbes, ainsi que les quelques morceaux d'engrais qui venaient de leurs attenants. Ces réserves étaient gardé en lieu sûr pour l'avenir. Pendant les années de disette, ils mangeaient plutôt à satiété.
Les 'Nextlings' et les 'Middlings' n'avaient pas cette aubaine. Ils gaspillaient tout et par conséquent ils se retrouvaient sans réserves quelques trois mois après la saison de récolte. Et il aurait fallu encore 6 mois pour voir apparaitre les prochains camions et wagons. S'ils ne trouvaient pas une solutions, ils auraient péri. Heureusement pour eux, l'un des rats eut l'idée de persévérer dans ses efforts.
Alors que la famine touchait leurs compatriotes, un groupe de rats travailleurs pensèrent à des stratégies pour atteindre le sommet du mur. Sa hauteur ne permettait pas à l'un d'entre eux de sauter, et il n'y avait pas moyen de grimper. Finalement, un 'Middling' se servit d'une tonne de rats morts -entassés loin des autres- pour pouvoir atteindre le sommet. Mais plusieurs autres rats avaient dénoncé cette stratégie imprudente. Ils pensèrent qu'il mourrait et de la pire des manières Pour eux, il était préférable de se limiter au monde qu'ils connaissaient le mieux que de risquer leur vie. Quand celui-ci put escalader, ses compatriotes mangèrent ces rats morts par pur désespoir. Et par conséquent personne ne l'avait suivi.
Quand il arriva au sommet, il était émerveillé, ce après avoir été terrifié quand il lança un coup d'œil dans les auges des 'Middlings' et de 'Grans'. Ils s'empressa de rejoindre les rats deu niveau supérieur. et leur demanda à manger. Mais il était hué et chassé.
Il se mit à se promener, et il observait d'une part les 'Middlings' mourant de faim, les rats du niveau supérieur autour de lui, et le domaine des "Grans" d'autre part. Il vit un "Grans", l'appela et lui expliqua la situation périlleuse dans laquelle lui et ses congénères se trouvaient. C'est ainsi que ce dernier lui proposa une solution intéressante. Il possédait une réserve importante et incommensurable de graines. Il était fier de prêter à M. Rat -comme il l'avait surnommé- la moitié de sa réserve. En contrepartie, ce dernier devait la lui rembourser durant la prochaine "récolte" des géants -c'est ainsi qu'ils appelaient tous les humains avec des camions et des trains), avec un taux intérêt de 5 graines pour chaque 100 graines empruntées. M. Rat avait conclu l'accord, alors qu'il n'était pas certain de rembourser les intérêts exigés. Il devait prendre le risque, autrement il mourrait de faim avec ses compatriotes.
Ils s'étaient rendus dans l'auge des ''Middling' pour les informer qu'il avait trouvé une source de nourriture qui pourrait les alimenter jusqu'à leur approvisionnement, tout en leur faisant part des termes du contrat. Il pouvait bien leur poser des conditions, mais il pensa qu'un meilleur rendement leur aurait permis de le payer.
Ainsi, les 'Middlings' s'en sortirent et M. Rat devint riche. Il devint ainsi un dealer, au point de devenir le plus riche du "Grand Trench" Les rats du niveau supérieur avaient fini par mettre en lui leur confiance et à négocier avec les 'Middlings' affamés.
Comme par hasard, un autre chat du domaine des "Nextlings" s'était retrouvé sur le mur entre les "Nextlings" et les "Fieldings". On l'appelait aussi M. Rat (ce qui aurait pu être embarrassant, mais puisque les deux M. Rat ne s'étaient jamais parlés, vu la distance qui les séparait, il n'y avait. aucun inconvénient). Le premier était cupide que le premier M. Rat et essayaient de négocier un accord avec les "Nextlings" avec un taux d'intérêt de 50 graines pour chaque 100 graines empruntées. Ceux si conclurent l'accord parce qu'ils n'avaient pas d'autre choix. Cependant, deux saisons après, une révolte populaire eut lieu, et M. Rat des "Nextlings" fut lancé dans leur auge à eux et manngé. Ayant appris que M. Rat avait négocié avec les "Middling" à un taux abordable, les "Nextlings" sollicitèrent ses services.
Mais il se trouvait coincé. Il avait gagné la confiance des "Grans et des rats de la haute classe, mais il ne pouvait pas satisfaire les "Nextlings" affamés. Il était nécessaire qu'il étende ses activités, mais encore fallait-il qu'il trouve des rats de confiance. Pendant la prochaine livraison des graines, il remarqua un couple de rats qui avait fait montre de fidélité et d'honnêteté lors de leur livraison.
Il leur parla discrètement et leur expliqua comment accéder à d'autres murs. Ainsi, pouvait-il mener ses activités à travers tous les murs internes et satisfaire les "Grans", les rats du niveau haut, les "Fieldings", les "Nextlings" et les Middlings. Il baptisa son entreprise "Middling Grain Bank" et mit en place ses propres magasins, en lieu sécurisé sur les trois mur -à l'abris de la pluie, des oiseaux et d'autres habitants du niveau supérieur (qui n'avaient que faire des tractations et toute forme de commerce).
Avec le temps, il avaient prit avec lui une femme et fonda une famille à qui il enseignait fièrement les vertus du commerce intègre. Ses collaborateurs s'étaient également mariés et ils enseignaient les secrets du commerce, de la richesse, et de la responsabilité à toutes les communautés. La "Middle Grain Bank' devinrent le socle de force et de certitude de tous les rats, car elle redistribuait les graines et s'assurait qu'aucun rat n'était affamé. Avec le temps, M. Rat fut élevé au rang de roi.
Comme vous pouvez l'imaginer, avec un monde plein de rats, il y en avait ceux qui se sentaient inférieurs; et par conséquent ils essayaient de commettre des meurtres et d'améliorer leur condition par la violence accrue et la terreur. Ces rats s'en étaient bien sortis dans les auges et d'autres essayaient d'atteindre les murs. Le Roi Rat devait toujours agir avec tact; et il jugea que les populations devaient voter des lois pour se prémunir de la nouvelle race des rats dangereux.
Il s'agit d'une autre histoire pour une autre fois; pas besoin de rappeler que certaines lois et règlements avait été établis. Il y avait toujours les mauvais rats. Il y avait toujours des rats humbles qui mourraient de faim et essayaient de survivre quotidiennement. Il y avait aussi l'ancienne génération des rats niveau supérieur qui essayaient toujours de survivre, mais leur paresse les réduisaient aux tâches domestiques. Et même, certains de leurs descendants étaient tombés dans l'auge et plus jamais ils n'avaient connu leur gloire d'antan (mais toujours est-il qu'il rappelait leurs compatriotes qu'ils descendaient de la race des rats du niveau supérieur). Les rats du niveau inférieur qui n'appréciaient pas leur situation avaient appris à regarder vers le ciel et à aspirer à l'ascendance. Contrairement à un grand nombre, certains avaient réussi.
Pour certains mauvais rats et l'ancienne générations des rats de la haute classe, il était préférable que les rats de la basse classe restent à leur place; Qu'ils se contentent de fouiner le sol et de chercher de quoi manger. Ils auraient préféré voir les "rats de l'auge" (comme ils les désignaient) se plaindre et se battre quand il y avait un malentendu -et non espérer les lendemains meilleurs. L'inertie des rats de l'auge profitait à ces autres rats. sans le Roi Rat, ceci aurait pu arriver.
Mais il y avait un Roi Rat. Il avait montré ce qu'un rat doté de volonté pouvait faire. Volonté sans laquelle le "Grand Trench n'aurait pas été pareil.
Fin de l'histoire! J'étais impatient de remettre cette histoire à Théo et son père. Je me demandais s'ils partageraient cette histoire avec la prochaine personne qu'ils voudraient encadrer. Elle était dédiée à mes nouveaux amis et mes nouveaux mentors. Je voulais maintenir faire mes études. Je voulais faire la transition entre un récipiendaire passif et un joueur actif. La prochaine étape consistait à mettre en pratique mes leçons dans une situation réelle.
Mais cette histoire c'est pour une autre fois.
