The study has resulted in one conference presentation and two refereed papers (see references).The average weight of schoolbags (6.6 kg, 11.7% of body weight) carried by secondary students in five New Zealand schools exceeded recommended international industrial guidelines for handling of loads by adults and the prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms amongst the students was high. We believe there is a need for secondary schools to develop specific strategies to reduce the physical strain associated with carriage of schoolbags by their students in order to help prevent the onset and development of musculoskeletal symptoms.
Carrying schoolbags may contribute to low back pain in children (Troussier et al. 1994). Despite the proposal of an unofficial (and scientifically unproven) limit of 10% of bodyweight (Voll and Klimt 1977), it has been reported that German (Voll and Klimt 1977) and in Italian (Negrini et al.1999) schoolchildren carry schoolbags weighing between 11-14% and 22% of body weight respectively. In the Italian study the average daily schoolbag load was 9.3 kg. This exceeded international manual handling guideline limits for adults (Health and Safety Executive 1992, Waters et al. 1993). No previous studies appear to have assessed both schoolbag weight and musculoskeletal symptoms simultaneously nor explored the nature of the loads carried. We have therefore examined the weight and use of schoolbags and the prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms associated with schoolbag carriage amongst 140 secondary school students (70 third form students comprising 35 females and 35 males, and 70 sixth form students comprising 35 females and 35 males) from five New Zealand schools (Whittfield and Legg 1999, Whittfield et al. 2001, 2003).

Her eye lids were trembling softly, under
the gentle touch of the light sparkles reflected by the water of the river. Diana
opened them slowly, trying to gather herself, even if the drowsiness which was
holding her draped like the carrying arms of a parent was extremely pleasant. She noticed the leaves and branches of a
willow tree touching the surface of the green water, of the river she
apparently was passing on. The swinged
waving’s and the wood seemed a quietening cradle.
The boat was carrying her with the help of
the young boat man. She raised bit up, in order to see him better. She was not
able to remember where they met each
other, what could be his name…
But he what a handsome young man.
He turned towards her, and smiled. A calm,
self confident, male, smile full of charisma. What the hell? thought Diana.
But was pleasant, she was feeling safe,
better to start a conversation so she find out sooner what was about.
-Who are you? Where I am? asked she softly.
The young man was not answering. He kept
rowing, who knows towards which destination.
He was slender, with dark curly hair as pitch, green eyes, a mouth that
resembled a heart shape. Something sweet mingled to the natural roughness of a
man. Still, I think I know him, thought Diana.
Something from her past was coming to light, an
episode from her teen years, the meeting in the central park. He appeared from
nowhere just in front of her, a young boy bigger than her, and behaved like she
was dreaming long time now. They became friends in a genuine manner, followed
the appointment, the kiss…
Than life made things go in such way that
they won’t see each other, we don’t know how, they never met again. But Diana
was thinking on him each and every time her new lovers was disappointing her.
The nostalgia made her create dreams like “what if...”
Well, even if they were quite similar, she
was sure was not Peter the boat man.
She watched him very discretely, and could
not find him flaws.
But he was watching her too and with
tenderness.
The background was in continuous changing,
the vegetation on the river shore was a joy, small little yellow flowers, the
grass pointed endings, cornflowers… On the sky birds were
dancing a perfect ballet.
Diana felt the tiredness late, stretched her
hand in a praising manner, and the boat man hold her in his arms simply,
pampering her as if was a child. She fall asleep.
A flash entered through her half asleep
thoughts… A noise, strong thud, metals cracking, the pain melting away…
The accident???

Pleoapele se zbătură, sub atingerea delicată a sclipirilor luminii reflectate de apa râului. Diana le deschise încet, dorind să se adune, deşi toropeala care o ținea învăluită ca de brațele grijulii a unui părinte, era extrem de plăcută. Observă frunzele şi ramurile unei sălcii atingând apa verde, a râului
peste care parcă ea trecea. Unduirile legănate şi lemnul păreau un leagăn liniştitor. Barca o purta, cu ajutorul tânărului barcagiu. Se ridică o idee ca să-l privească mai bine. Nu reuşea să-şi amintească unde se cunoscuseră, cum putea să-l cheme… Dar ce bine făcut tânăr.
El se întoarse spre ea, şi zâmbi. Un zâmbet calm, masculin, sigur, plin de vrajă. Ce dumnezeu?
gândi Diana.
Dar era plăcut, se simțea sigură, mai bine să intre în vorbă şi să afle mai repede care era treaba.
- Cine eşti tu? Unde sunt? întrebă ea uşor.
Tânărul nu răspunse. Continua să vâslească, nu ştiu către ce destinație.
Era zvelt, cu păr negru ca smoala, buclat, ochi verzi, o gură care amintea de o inimioară. Ceva dulce amestecat cu asprimea naturala a unui bărbat. Parcă totuşi îl ştiu, gândi Diana.
Ceva din trecut ieşi la lumină, o întâlnire din adolescența ei, în parcul din centru. Apăruse din senin, în fața ei, un tânăr puțin mai mare ca ea, şi se purtase aşa cum ea visa de mult. Firesc se împrieteniră, urmă un randezvous, sărutul…
Apoi viața făcu ca ei să nu se mai vadă, nu se ştie cum, nu se întâlniră. Dar Diana se gândea la el ori de câte ori era dezamăgită de noii iubiți. Nostalgia o făcea să creeze vise genul” ce ar fi fost dacă…
Ei bine, chiar dacă semăna, nu era sigură că era Petru barcagiul.
Îl privea pe furiş cu coada ochiului, şi nu-I găsea cusur.
Dar, el zâmbea, şi o privea cu drag.
Peisajul se schimba, dar tot era feeric, vegetația de pe mal era o bucurie, flori mici galbene, iarba cu vârfuri ca de lance, albăstrele…Pe cer păsările dansau un balet perfect.
Diana, simți oboseala târziu, întinse brațele, rugător, iar barcagiul, o strânse simplu în brațe, alintând-o ca pe un copil. Adormi.
Un fulger pătrunse printre gândurile pe jumătate adormite… Un zgomot, o bufnitură puternică, fiare trosnind, durerea care se topea …

As this is being drawn, I actually have a particular car in mind– a Nissan 350Z, and I’ve already researched photos of it to get a reference on how the roofline goes, and to get the shape and the other details right.
However, I have ‘cheated’ a bit on the wheel size, because I wanted it to look
aggressive and racy. Thus, the wheel sizes are a little bit bigger than on the standard car, and the wheel arches go a little bit higher. It all boils down to stance – overall, it looks like it is sitting nice and low and ready to race.

Forrásszöveg - román Acesta lucrare are la baza construirea unui model matematic şi particularizarea lui pentru simularea tehnologiei de rectificare a suprafeţelor laterale şi de vârf ale cuţitelor de danturat roţi dinţate conice cu dinţi curbi. Studiul are ca bază metoda angrenării spaţiale. O problemă importantă este aceea a identificării unui model experimental pentru rectificarea profilului cuţitului astfel încât abaterile muchiei aşchietoare principale faţă de o dreaptă să fie minime.
După analiza cercetărilor numerice, tehnologia optimă de rectificare a suprafeţelor de aşezare laterală şi de vârf ale cuţitelor cu aceeaşi lege de generare, rezultă metoda detalonării elicoidale cu avans, utilizând disc abraziv cilindric. În baza acestei optimizări, autorul prezintă în acesta lucrare contribuţiile aduse la: proiectarea şi execuţia dispozitivului tehnologic si proiectarea capetelor de danturat.

The study is based on the spatial meshing method. An important issue is that of the identification of an experimental model for the cutter's profile grinding, so that the main cutting edge deviations from a straight line to be minimum.
After the analysis of the numerical research, the optimal grinding technology of the side edge and tip of the cutters with the same generation law, results the helical relief feed grinding method, using a cylindrical grinding wheel. Based on this optimization, the author presents in this paper the contributions to: design and execution of the technological device and the design of the gear cutting heads.

Capetele de danturat roţi conice cu dinţi curbi au un număr mare de cuţite cuprins între 8 şi 28, aşezate pe diametre relativ mari, între 88,9 şi 406,9 mm. Numărul mare de cuţite de pe un cap, fac ca pentru detalonare să fie necesare un număr mare de curse duble ale căruciorului la o rotaţie a capului de danturat. Scopul acestei lucrări este de a demonstra că prelucrarea elicoidală a suprafeţelor laterale şi de vârf ale cuţitelor de danturat, după aceeaşi lege de generare, poate înlocui detalonarea radială sau unghiulară cu camă, prelucrarea făcându-se pe maşini clasice de rectificat sau pe maşini de rectificat filete, iar abaterile de profil ale cuţitelor prelucrate sunt comparabile cu cele ale firmelor producătoare de scule pentru danturat.

Producerea mobilierului este una dintre cele mai satisfăcătoare modalități de petrecere a timpului: hârșâitul rindelei pe lemn; mireasma îmbătătoare a proaspătului tăiat pin de zahăr californian sau al palisandrului indian; gama nesfârșită de culori, texturi și senzații ale tipurilor de lemn din lumea întreagă; asamblarea tensionată dar plină de bucurie din final, când toată munca și strădania vin împreună într-o explozie concludentă a finalizării. Ce entuziasm! Aceasta este arta rafinată - și distractivă – a prelucrării lemnului. Răsplata e mobila frumoasă. Pentru a experimenta acest entuziasm, va trebui să aveți un grad de control asupra muncii și instrumentelor dvs., să aveți cunoștințe de lucru cu materialele dvs., și să înțelegeți unele principii elementare de design. Spre deosebire de cele mai multe alte meșteșuguri, fabricarea mobilei și realizarea de dulapuri/cabinete cer cunoștințe vaste-și atenție. Trebuie să știi ce instrumente și tehnici să utilizați și cum să organizați corect secvența, sau ordinea, de evenimente când sunt folosite acestea. Iar mobila dvs. frumoasă va reflecta rezultatul.
