Malay term

tanah kat

Malay to English Bus/Financial Mining & Minerals / Gems Malay term used in Indonesian legal document
A business is established with a wide range of activities, including mining and excavation of minerals, nickel ....sand and 'tanah kat'. I realise this is literally 'cut land' but that is meaningless in English, so I am at a loss to work out what is meant.

Can anyone help with a good English term for 'tanah kat'?

tanah kat Hi Catherine!

This is the first time I come across the word and I'm not aware whether "tanah kat" exist in Malay vocab. "Kat" do exist but as an acronym to the word "dekat" and "tanah" in the context of the sentence mean "soil".

Perhaps you can give us more "clue" so that we can accurately translate the word in accordance with the context of the document that you are translating.

Probably a typo or scanner not picking up the right character?
Clay is mined to make brick, pottery etc.
Note from asker:
Yes, you are absolutely right about the scanner not picking up the right character. I've been working on this job for a week and what I needed was another set of eyes! Thank you! When the 24 hours is up, I will select your answer.
