grandfathers and grandmothers

They surely mean grandfathers
(avus, plural avi) and grandmothers (avia, plural aviae), like in this:

Quam observationem in personis etiam avi et aviae, proavi et proaviae, nepotum vel neptum, item pronepotum et proneptum, sive in potestate sive emancipati emancipataeve sint, ex paterna vel materna linea venientibus custodiri censemus. <a 529 d.Xv.K.Oct chalcedone decio vc. cons.>
, where the author also mentions grangrandfathers (proavi) and grandgrandmothers (proaviae)

Who else could be mentioned in a geneological list?

Grandparents (M + F) / Ancestors

It can be either grandparents (male and female), but also "ancestors" in a more general meaning.

aviaE

It lacks an "E"... otherwise it doesn't make much sense : "Grandfathers and grandmother (singular)"
