Italian term

tratto di dissezione

Italian to English Medical Medical: Cardiology Coronary Angioplasty
"Il controllo angiografico ... mostra una lesione non significativa inferiore a 50%. A questo livello e' visible un **tratto di dissezione** di tipo B. Non c'e' alcuna immagine suggestiva di formazione trombotica."

This is from a report of a patient having coronary angioplasty.

I've never seen this term before. When I look up ''dissection tract" I find approximately 500 google hits. And only 4 results when I search "dissection tract" + "type B". Is 'dissection tract' the correct translation of this, or is there another more common and correct expression?

type B aortic dissection

Ciao Joseph,

In dissections, we talk about 'lumen'--true and false lumen. There are type A and type B aortic dissections. If you google, you'll get lots of hits.

As for lumen, kook at this

Tratto perhaps in the sense that dissection travels down/propagates. I've never heard 'dissection tract' used in EN.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks for the help and explanation. I get a modest number of hits for 'area of dissection' in the context of arteries, which I think would also work depending on context. Hope your day is going well!"
