Greek term

Ουροκαθετήρα (UPC)

Greek to English Medical Medical: Instruments Part of a product description of a medical device being used in a clinical study
XXXXXX Φάκελος Υπό Έρευνα Φαρμακευτικού Προϊόντος (ΥΕΦΠ), XXXXX XXX για τον Ουροκαθετήρα (UPC) έκδοση XXXX με ημερομηνία XXXX XXXX

I mainly want to know what the 'UPC' stands for, but it would help if you could give me a suitable translation of 'Ουροκαθετήρα (UPC)'
Proposed translations (English)
2 +1 urinary (bladder) catheter

Discussion

Peter Close (asker) Jun 19, 2023:
Zoi, I did not say that I would write 'intrauterine catheter' in the translation, I merely mentioned it because that was the only medical meaning of 'UPC' that I had been able to find until then. Even I know what an 'intrauterine catheter' is used for. I therfore knew that that meaning could not apply in that particular case. Later, I found more medical meanings of 'UPC', but, as I could not be sure that any of them applied in my particular case, I eventually wrote 'UPC' as 'UPC' and did not expand the abbreviation.
Zoi Patrinou Jun 13, 2023:
Intrauterine catheter is in Greek " ενδομήτριος καθετήρας" so check your source text first. Is it about operations on females?
D. Harvatis Jun 13, 2023:
Of course, keeping the acronym in English is always a safe option. But I don't think that an intrauterine catheter would be called "ουροκαθετήρας" in Greek, since these are different parts.
Peter Close (asker) Jun 13, 2023:
Thank you both. However, I have found this: "Intrauterine pressure catheter (UPC) catheter that can be placed through the cervix into the uterus to measure the uterine pressure during labor." So, for the time being, I think that I will call it a UPC catheter.
Zoi Patrinou Jun 13, 2023:
I agree. Probably "UPC" stands for the product code.
D. Harvatis Jun 13, 2023:
Could it be a copy/paste error, where the original text mentioned the catheter's Universal Product Code and the acronym "UPC" was copied along with the word "Ουροκαθετήρα"?

Most clinics in Greece have the translated term like this. Check it out :)

Thank you for your input, but I found a more suitable answer elsewhere.
