German term

Abnahmevolumenstrom

German to English Tech/Engineering Engineering (general)
Bei auftretenden Druckschwankungen beim Ausgangsdruck oder Abnahmevolumenstrom wird durch mehr Öffnen oder Schließen des Ventils, im Sinne einer Angleichung des Istwertes (Ausgangsdruck) an den Sollwert der Druck angeglichen.

Am not very happy with my current translation, which is "decreasing volumetric flow", but haven't been able to find anything more reliable. The context is a glass coating system.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!
Proposed translations (English)

Discussion

meirs Nov 30, 2011:
volumetric versus mass flow rate for a given liquid and temperature of they (i.e., specific density) are practically the same because the are linked by a constant - so increasing one by a certain percentage increase the other by the same percentage and so on. That given that all normal fluids are incompressible.
So "flow rate" alone would be enough IMHO.

(volumetric) discharge flow rate

This seems to be "Abnahme" in the sense of "discharge/delivery", rather than "decrease". See, for example, http://rainer-sielker.de/Grubengas/grubengas.htm ("Beim Betrieb der Förderanlage wird die Klappe so geregelt, dass bei einer Entgasungsrate, die höher ist als der Abnahmevolumenstrom durch die Förderanlage, der Gasüberschuss an die Atmosphäre abgeführt wird.")
Something went wrong...
