"white-collar worker" is "funksjonær" or "hvitsnipparbeider", "blue-collar worker" is "arbeider"

I suppose the best translations are
1 ) "funksjonær" for white-collar worker
If you use the Engl. term in plural, you can say
funksjonærstanden" in Norw.
2) "arbeider" for blue-collar worker (pl.: "arbeidere")

However, the distinctions betwenn these two groups are not too clear-cut in Norway, as you probably know.
