One that is still operating is the Cantera de Los Trancos between Agua Amarga and Fernán Pérez. There’s never seemed to be much activity at the quarry when I’ve passed but many low piles of white clay with just a tinge of pale green flank the road. When I first saw these I’d never heard of bentonite but the internet can be a wonderful thing and I now know it’s basically a type of clay formed by the alteration of volcanic rocks. Greasy to the touch and very plastic, bentonite has the useful property of being able to absorb a quantity of water several times greater than its own volume. As a result it is an integral part of drilling mud, it’s added to cement for certain purposes, it is used to prepare moulds in smelting and it’s even used as a clarifier of wines and oils. My friend Pete Adeline, a talented potter, read this section and sent me this additional information: ‘Bentonite is also an essential additive to almost all ceramic glazes. A tiny amount added reduces settling of glaze particles and has other benefits. Incidentally, some people ingest bentonite to give their bowels a special clear-out.’ Thanks, Pete; ALMOST TOO MUCH INFORMATION THERE.

Cualquier traducción con la palabra "información" inmediatamente hace pensar en la frase algo jocosa en inglés y enfatiza que se está leyendo una traducción. Mejor usar una frase más natural en castellano.
