یـقول الإمـام ابـن حـزم، مـوضـحا ھـذه الـفكرة: (مـا كـان مـدركـا بـأول الـعقل وبـالـحواس فـلیس عـليه اسـتدلال أصـلا، بـل مـن قـبل ھـذه الـجھات یـبتدئ كـل أحـد بالاستدلال وبالرد إلى ذلك فیـصح استـدلاله أو یبـطل). فالنظام الاستـدلالي لا یقـوم إلا بـوجـود ھـذه الـمبادئ الـضروریـة، وإلا لـزم الـدور والتسـلسل، والـذي یـفضي إلـى سـقوط الـمنظومـة الاسـتدلالـیة كـلھا.
