Heads may be of many shapes such as flat, flat and sloped for drainage, conical,* toriconical (radiused) , hemispherical, torispherical (radiused spherical), reverse dished, or elliptical. The most common head type is the torispherical shape. For sanitary service, it is important that the bottom selected provides full drainage of the vessel. HTH!

Michael Powers (PhD) (asker) Sep 15, 2011: typos It was my typo for "ángula" instead of "ángulo" but in the text it states "toriconical" - but maybe what was sent to me was scanned and simply a typo. I am not sure.
Miguel Hernandez Sep 15, 2011: Typo Hey Michael... Have you considered that your text might have a typo? (Tricónicas instead of toricónicas), i also noticed the text says "la mitad del ángula" and it should read "la mitad del ángulo"... If that's the case, Tricone/Triconic are the words you're looking for. Good Luck!

As per UG-32(h) **Toriconical heads or sections may be used when the half apex angle is less than or equal to 30 degrees ***.

Para las cabezas se pueden utilizar de varios tipos ya sean soldados oempernados, con distintas geometrías. Estas especificaciones están incluidas enel Apéndice Mandatorio 1, sobre Fórmulas Suplementarias de Diseño. Se habla principalmente de tres tipos de cabezas formadas, las cuales pueden tenerforma hemisférica, elipsoidal o toriesférica. También se incluye la cabeza ***toricónica ***y la sección cónica, dependiendo de los requerimientos del proceso. Para el cálculo de espesores de las cabezas formadas los requisitos seencuentran en los párrafos UG-32 para presión interna sobre el lado cóncavo yUG-33 para la presión sobre el lado convexo, es decir, presión externa.
