A Blowpipe generally refers to an air nozzle that is located under the sheet, on the downstream side of the reel drum. A Gooseneck generally refers to an air nozzle that is located above the sheet and that moves into a position on the downstream side of the empty spool in the turn up position. As the function of these two systems is the same, both will be referred to as Blowpipe for the purpose of the this manual.
The Blowpipe directs a blast of compressed air at the sheet causing it to break and wrap around the empty spool. The basic components of a Blowpipe system are an air nozzle (A) to direct the air blast, a pneumatic solenoid valve (B) to control the air blast on and off, and a motion mechanism (C) to move the air nozzle into position during turn up.
