German term or phrase: luden
Can anyone help with a translation of the word 'luden' in the following, talking about the liberation of Bergen-Belsen? It's possibly a typing mistake as there are quite a few in the original, but any near guesses would be very welcome!

Alle Drahtzäune, die die einzelnen Lagerabteilungen von einander schieden, wurden niedergerissen. Es mögen damals wohl mindestens 30.000 Menschen im Lager gewesen sein. Man hatte den Eindruck, dass bei den Frauen die Überzahl, bei den Männern eine sehr grosse Minderheit luden waren. Alles wogte durcheinander. Sofort begann die Suche nach Angehörigen. Ich habe an diesem und den folge genden Tagen die Blöcke der Frauenabteilungen nach meiner Frau und meiner Tochter durchsucht. Niemand konnte mir etwas sagen.
