Hello everyone, it's my first post here and I'm it quite a pickle, so would like for opinions about my situation. I'm a first year International Relations student but I must say I don't enjoy it. After some time here I've come to realize what my true passion is: LANGUAGES!! I speak Portuguese and English fluently, have an intermediate level of French and started learning German in September at university and am enjoying it very much. It's really the only part I enjoy about my degree. The thing is I started thinking of quitting this degree and starting a translation degree next September, so this exam season hasn't gone very well and I don't feel like going back next semester. On the other side, I've started looking at masters in translation here and found some that don't require a degree in translation, so somedays I think I'll just stick with IR and then do a masters in translation, but I don't think I would learn much about translation in a year. Also, with an undergraduate degree, there's an internship you have to do before you finish the degree, so that would give me some needed experience in translation and, who knows, I might stay working permanently where I'm doing the internship.
Can anyone comment on this? It would be greatly appreciated. ▲ Collapse
