Hi, I haven’t seen a proper post about this on the internet so, I’m posting it here in case it helps someone.

Hi, I haven’t seen a proper post about this on the internet so, I’m posting it here in case it helps someone.

In some situations, Windows Update will stop working. Although normally very annoying Windows Update brings drivers updates and security patches which are best practice to have especially on computers used for work.
I have seen that all the RegEdit tweaks and other command line actions failed on a machine. Here is what solved it: the Windows Update Blocker V1.8 from Sordum. That feels weird, sure. Bear with me.
The fix works this way: once installed, you trigger a full Windows Update block by clicking both on “Disable Updates and Protect Services Settings” and
After that, open the app again and click on “Enable Updates”. And click “Apply now”. Now this process will put everything back in its normal state so that the computer will get Windows Update back on again.
It worked on a machine where nothing else would.

CAUTION:
1/Be extremely careful what you click on within the Sordum website, the “real” download button is towards the bottom of the page.
2/You’re doing this at your own risk, just posting what worked in my experience on a machine that did not respond to standard recommended fixes.
