Dear all, for a student of mine, I am looking for texts (lower-upper-intermediate)with which he could improve his pronunciation.
Can anyone recommend me any webistes with downloadable texts???

Merriam-Webster has audible pronunciations for almost all English words in its online dictionary, see (hear) this example. I love that site.

Too bad you can't download the audio samples and print them out , but nonetheless, it might be a useful resource. You don't even have to install any plugins, a sound card & speakers are all you need.
Maybe you'll want to try searching Google for ESL, pronunciation and printable, that seems to result in some good hits.

Hi italia, these aren't downloadable texts, but you might be interested anyway. I've used "Clear Speech" with beginning students and can highly recommend it.

Hello to all.
I wonder if it is possible to improve one's pronunciation of a foreign language without immediate feedback from a native speaker.
My daughter has an excelent English pronunciation, much better than mine, and she enjoys correcting me. But in many cases I can't hear the difference between hers and mine.
Side comment: When I speak English for a long time I get tired and start sounding like Desi Arnaz.

In my opinion text are useless. I'm an Italian native and I speak a very good English and a perfect French (my French native teachers were really impressed by my pronounciation). I achieved these results only thanks to television: news, talk shows, quiz shows, telefilms. Nothing written, only listening, and listening, and listening...
