Hi there,

I've been selected to bid on a translation contract for an international institution.

The thing is that I don't know what rates to set. The grade will depend on the results of a test (high coefficient) and the price asked (lower coefficient).

I've been working in law as a professional (France) and practiced translation as an extra, without minding my rates (0.09 to 0.15/word).

Does anyone have any idea of the rates charged by freelancers in institutions such as the IMF, UN or EU? I was able to find indicative salaries for salaried translators at these institutions but not for freelancers.

If anyone could provide me with a range of prices per word to put on the bid, that would be great.

Hi Renzi,
I have been approached to take a part in the EP tender and quoted the rate of 30 EUR/page (based on 250 words/page) for translation. The rate has been accepted, and I have already done the first round of tests. I do not know whether it would be helpful for you, but wish you good luck with taking part in the tender anyway!
