I am pleased to announce that the bilingual book "Les Producteurs toqués de l’île d’Orléans / Farmers in Chef Hats" is the recipient of the Gourmand World Cookbook Award for "Best in the World" in the "Best Local Cookery Book" category. It tied for first place.

The book is the creation of author, designer, photographer and publisher Linda Arsenault. She wanted the book to be bilingual and I was honoured to be chosen to do the French to English translation. We worked on the project simultaneously in order for it to be published before the 2007 high tourist season. The book has gone on to sell over 12,000 copies, placing it on the bestseller list in Quebec.

The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards are a prestigious international competition for food and wine books. Winners for each country compete for the "Best in the World" award. The awards were presented in London, England on 13 April, 2008.

"Les Producteurs toqués de l’île d’Orléans / Farmers in Chef Hats" also won for Canada in the "Best Culinary History Book" category.

I very much enjoyed working on this project with Linda and extend my congratulations to her and her team, particularly chef Philip Rae.

Thanks also to my fellow Prozians who assisted me in Kudoz!

Well done! Apr 17, 2008

Just goes to show, specialising does pay off.

And I take my hat off to you, you specialise in a tricky field that I couldn't even hope to master given I can't even boil an egg!

Also nice to see some good news on the forum, instead of the doom and gloom of late.

Congratulations! Apr 17, 2008

And, as said above, great to hear some good news. And very generous of you to suggest that others bask in the warmth of your glory! Not "guilty" myself though!
