yes, if I get the domain back and secured it will also cover the email. They are both connected. Let's see, I hope it will get resolved without much further struggling.

Possible alternative route to domain name recovery ...? Apr 11

He (the CEO of this rogue agency) said he had placed the domain on a sales platform and told me to buy it off of him (and kindly suggested I should be fast).

You haven't mentioned the name or URL of the 'sales platform' in question, but if you have that info it might be worth:
a) checking whether your domain does actually appear in the platform's listing (and if so, what is the 'asking price');
b) checking the platform's T&C to see whether the posting of a domain name that matches your personal name contravenes their rules, or maybe gives some other clue as to how the matter might be resolved in the event that your approach to the UK's ICO doesn't bear fruit.

Sales platform Apr 12

I have all the information of said sales platform but didn't want to post it here. I didn't check their T&Cs though. But either way, I guess selling my personal data without consent is also not really allowed...

Hi Berit,
I would ask a chatbot, ChatGPT or sth. else, and describe your case. AI is usually really good with 'legal stuff'.
And then you can always use follow-up prompts to get more detailed answers and help.
Good luck

There was recently a case in UK that was dismissed (or in plain-speak laughed out of court) because ....

the claimant representing himself couldn't or wouldn’t pay to access databases used by lawyers and instead relied on some AI for gathering 'legal arguments' to support his case, and was given by some AI (can't remember which one exactly) a list of totally invented 'precedents'.

Which one was that? If your 'dear all knowing friend' is reluctant to talk badly about itself, there are search engines available ...

If you really believe that an improved statistical device for assembling words is a replacement for real knowledge, I’ve got a bridge to sell to you for a bargain price, plenty of period features, one careful lady owner recently passed away …
