I have just spent an hour trying to set up Pastey to work behind a VPN. I should add I live in a somewhere where access to ChatGPT is only available with a VPN.
I noticed that the Proz.com login page was not displaying correctly with the VPN active, and only allowed the login when the VPN was inactive.
Having completed the login, and gone into the settings there is no key for ChatGPT and Pastey throws up a timeout message with the VPN either active or inactive.

Clicking on the ChatGPT model option bar, the bottom option "gpt-4 via Proz.com API" throws up the following screen:
This is pretty disappointing.
Following the link to the API on Proz.com there is absolutely nothing in the section about ChatGPT or how to use the API to access it.
Oh well! It's the thought that counts....

In your screenshot, I can see that Claude AI is selected. Have you tried switching to ChatGPT or Gemini? One or two of them might even work without the need for the VPN connection unless your current location blocks all AI services. Please bear in mind that connection via VPN, as being indirect, might be slower hence the timeout error is possible.

Thanks IGOR, that was an oversight. When Claude or ChatGPT are selected there is a different error message. Originally I was posting about the error message that occurred with Claude, thinking I was set to ChatGPT. Switching back to ChatGPT the message changed to a timeout. I just edited the post without resetting the graphics in my post.
The same message that popped up when set to Claude also occurs when set to ChatGPT, so apologies for the confusion about that.
Yes VPN is slower, but not that slow, I pay for a premium service.
I would really like Proz.com to respond though, as it isn't clear what the capabilities of Pastey actually are.
They were obviously aware of the issue as you can see from the message that pops up.
To suggest that it might be possible to use the API seems odd, I don't see any of the shelf solution for that.

As you are trying to access AI services via a VPN, it is quite difficult to pinpoint the issue you experience. First of all, your location/country might block ChatGPT only, still allowing the connection to Anthropic's Claude AI or Google's Gemini? If this is the case, you might try to access ChatGPT through ProZ.com API. This is exactly the purpose of the option with the message that you showed in your screenshot. Then, you can even turn off your VPN and choose that "ChatGPT via ProZ.com API" op... For testing purposes, I connected to a VPN (in a US-based server) a few times to check Gemini which hasn't been available in the EU countries yet. All went smoothly. Occasionally, an AI service may be overloaded for a while and pop up an error. Then, selecting one of the provided alternatives is the best solution.
