There is a way to do that. You can export the TM data via the crossTank Manager and import the tmx file in Trados Workbench. You open the file in TagEditor and translate it. After finishing the job you export the TM in tmx and import it again in across. After tha you start the pretranslation in across. Everything should be there.

sentence broken Jul 24, 2008

Thanks for the tip - I already have found a way - preview of target file, save, "prepare" for tageditor, translate, export tmx, import into across, pretranslate. as long as the original file is excel or so, it's ok. but if it is an xml file, I got problems with "broken" sentences. The soft break ^l is taken as a hard break ^p and trados translates sentences in 3-4 parts, and naturally across cannot use them. I have tried the way you described, but it does not export untranslated segments.. are you sure the untranslated segments are exported in the tmx file as well????

Before exporting as TMX you should first copy source segments to the target.

I have done so, as this was one of the first options I tried out, but (at least at that time) it didn't seem to work, and I don't know if this will avoid the "broken" sentences problem (in xml files in across I have this problem, when I somehow export and open the xml files in word as UTF-8, they are broken into several lines, with tabs in front of them, so I have to manually find-replace them.. any way around this?? or has the option you mentioned in practice worked fine for you??)
