I could not find the locations where crossTank and crossTerm files are stored in my hard disk. In Trados, Deja Vu, SDLX, and some other CAT tools, this is an easy question but as Across uses SQL server, the answer may be much more complicated. Any help appreciated.

Location of files

For locating the files, proceed as follows:
1. Open SQL Server or SQL Express.
2. Expand the left pane (across section) so you see crossterm cross tank, etc.
3. Rightclick one of the databases and select properties.
4. In the dialog shown, select files (2nd option from the top).
5. Look in the dialog in the path column. This shows where you have placed it when installing.
You migth have to resize the dialog to see the path column.

Thanks Uwe,
There are so many files in the relevant folder. Is it possible to open/edit these files with other programs?

File editing

These are SQL Databases and they contain a number of files, because databases are actually a number of files acting as one. Editing them would be best done with the SQL tools, but you should be very familiar with the concept, so you dont inadvertently destroy your work. If you really want to modify them make sure to back up the databases first.
I personally would recommend against it.
Uwe

Thanks Uwe,
I don't use Across for my projects at the moment, let's say getting prepared and trying to learn more about Across. I would like to have complete control of my files and I think it is time to learn about SQL, read some SQL books. What do you mean by SQL tools, any special program?

SQL Tools

Most of the tools come with SQL but there are also other ones out there.
For learning across a bit better, the tutorials are not to bad.
