Prvi slijed u meniju može činiti samo hladno predjelo, juha ili toplo predjelo. Ako je meni od tri slijeda, drugi slijed je mesno jelo s odgovarajućim prilozima ili garniturom (?) i treći je jedno od desertnih jela, sir, kolač, sladoled, voće i dr.
Meni od tri slijeda naziva se jednostavni ili temeljni meni, i može biti osnova za sastavljanje menija s više slijedova.
