Spanish to English Medical Medical (general)

In a text from Spain to be translated to English, describing a medical condition, it says:

se observó lesión granulomatosa necrotizante, empalizante y exudativa, ...

I cannot find a translation of the word "emplalizante" and only found it used 10 times in Google. I hope some of you know what it means. Thanks so much!
