Apr 8, 2021 (posted via ProZ.com):  I am in the process of publishing eight books on how to learn European language verbs. This is a complementary set to my earlier internationally-selling set of eight books on European language vocabulary. I intend to expand these books to include some Middle- and Far-Eastern languages such as Japanese and Farsi—I am already the author of "Roberts' Rapid Farsi”. ...more, + 5 other entries »

Bio

I am a highly specialised translator. I only take translation from written French to English in the fields of civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, and geology.

I have three British university degrees: BSc geology, MSc mining and tunnelling, and PhD civil engineering. My past professional qualifications were BSc MSc PhD, CEng CGeol CText FICE FIMMM FIGeol FTI FGS. I have been trained in contract law and was a trained UK government-appointed civil engineering judge, called an adjudicator in the UK.

I am also a linguist, being the author of 17 internationally-selling books on how to speak European languages. In addition, I teach French nationals to speak high-quality, upper-middle-class, educated, English. I can extend that to the civil and geotechnical speaking of English as well. It requires hard work and consistency of effort from the student, but the quality of the results will speak for itself.

Although I am an English national, I started speaking French when I was twenty-two years old and have continued to use it regularly since. I specialise in producing English that is pure, correct, and flowing. Owing to the differences in grammatical construction between French and English, this often means reconstructing entire sentences. Achieving this end in technical fields such as civil and structural engineering, or from written geotechnical works is time-consuming—particularly when one considers the huge technical vocabularies involved on either side. Specialised verbs are required, as are complex concepts and mechanisms.

I, therefore, use my unique high-level professional qualifications in these fields together with my knowledge of the languages and my working experience in France during my career, to enable me to provide what you may well come to regard as the best lucid and professional translation available.
