clicked on the wrong choice Oct 23, 2005

I didn´t want a forum for grammar, phonetics etc., there are enough books and schools for this. Just an english community forum instead. I hope one doesn't necessarily have to be a platinum with credentials for this.Best regards, Brandis

What about existing Linguistics forum? Oct 23, 2005

I'd say the existing Linguistics forum caters for this type of discussions, no?

If we start something like that for English, then we should start it for Hindi & Polish too Oct 23, 2005

What makes English better tahn other languages, that it should deserve a separte forum, devoted only to that language?
I do not see any necessity to create hundreds of fora for each language - what for? We have Linguistics and language fora - this is enough.

Regards
Jerzy

Why just English? Oct 23, 2005

I completely agree with Jerzy. If we created such a forum for English, then we should add one for each language.
I believe that discussions on the use of English can still be part of the KudoZ monolingual section. Perhaps we can add a new KudoZ category: "Syntax/Grammar".

And as Maria says, why just English?

Suggestion Oct 23, 2005

Can I suggest that comments about this poll on such subjects as "why not for other languages as well" are added to the original thread on the subject rather than here, so as to keep everything in one place?

Here it is again to save you scrolling back up... See more

Current KudoZ and forums cover the need Oct 24, 2005

When translators have grammar questions, these questions usually refer to a particular context, and those doubts get handled via KudoZ. Or else a basic principle can be discussed in one of the other forums.

There would be a lot of overlap, and people would have too many choices to make in posting questions or looking up past threads.
