I have a button on my screen that offers "normal" and day/night video/text/photo, so I switch from night text to day text. Not sure how helpful that is, but since it's there, why not use it, especially when I feel drained.

I’ve adjusted the height, distance, text size, color, contrast and brightness of my PC monitor two years ago and I don’t think I need to change it: no headaches, no sore eyes…

I pay for a program called Iris (the logo looks like the shutter on a camera lens). It screens out blue light and changes its color value throughout the day. It has spoiled me to the point that I can't stand to look at a screen that doesn't use it.

I just turn the light on if I am working in the evening.

I close the curtains and/or blinds as the sun rises. By 1 pm it's usually fine until dusk. Then I put the lights on.

I adjust the light around the monitor instead, so there is no contrast.

With very little daylight in December and officially no darkness in June, I can't ignore the daylight or the lack of it. Today we have 37 minutes more daylight than at the solstice, and it's finally going to get lighter in the mornings too. Sun up 8.45, down 16.11.

The best is, the sun's shining today, yay, and I have NO electric light on in my workroom.

I've installed a free software called f.lux https://justgetflux.com/ and I can say it's fabulous. It does everything automatically, I don't have to make any adjustments except that I've adjusted my location once. It's a real pleasure for your eyes, believe me. I recommend it to all.

Different ways of adjusting Jan 14, 2019

Interested to read about further options. I occasionally change the brightness - when I'm travelling by car this becomes vital for instance - but was doing it in a very unwielding fashion - now I may be more likely to do it on a regular basis.

If there's one thing I'm good at, it's falling asleep. I work until midnight with sunlight / terrarium-light grade lamps around my workspace to keep me bright awake, and one minute past midnight I sleep like a log.

I know some people who have difficulty falling asleep, and they love f.lux.

All the time! Jan 14, 2019

I don't need or like my screen to be at its brightest in all circumstances, and I live in northern France where outdoor light intensity changes a lot. I already use Windows 10's non-blue light and am very excited to hear about f.lux, which I'm going to try right now!

P.S. This may of course not be true for everyone, but on my Acer laptop you can adjust screen brightness with Fn +

Gamer Glasses! Jan 14, 2019

I used to, and I had an app installed for that purpose.
Then I bought gamer glasses and... Eureka! No more screen adjustments.
Gamer stuff is the best!

I'm buying a gamer chair next.
