I sent a fancy e-mail message my loyal regulars.
I sent e-cards for a couple of years, but it turned out that more than 50% did not open them. They might have been afraid of spam/virus or what other dangers exist out there.
E-cards give a cheap impression ... | Dec 21, 2018 |
... I receive loads of them (most of them sent to many recipients in bcc) and don't like them at all. I send paper cards to several good clients, presents to my best three clients and Christmas wishes in regular email correspondence. No e-cards.

I prefer business communication to focus on the essentials, and I don't want to waste my or their time with spam. To me, such greetings are in the same category as cat pictures.
Not any more | Dec 21, 2018 |
In the old days we sent cards out in the post, but I don't suppose they used to pass them round the office ooh-ing and ahh-ing (sp?) over our exquisite taste. I think it's better all round to tack on a brief personal message in an email. Or even be nice to them all year round, God forbid.
Usually I send a very small number of e-cards and also a very small number of personal paper cards and over the years they are fewer and fewer…

My clients, and some others such as my favourite proofreader, are sending their greetings one by one, and I send individual replies. I don't send any holiday messages proactively. I don't know why, it's always been that way. The holidays always just sneak up on me, and then people start sending these messages. They do it mostly to let me know they'll be out of the office for a while, I suppose. So Happy Hibernation, everyone!
Some Direct Clients, Yes | Dec 21, 2018 |
As a literary translator who has been hosted in Europe by a couple of my most loyal clients, who turned into friends for me, too, I have often sent out Christmas and New Year's greetings through e-mails.

I send paper cards to all my clients. Since the French don't do that, it's an authentic Brit gesture and they find it cute. I get emails thanking me! Then I send an email in the New Year as befits French tradition too, to wish them a HNY and let them know that I'm back at work after a Christmas break.

I'm replying and wishing all the best to those I'm in regular contact with. That's it.
