El Gobierno Dominicano está comprometido con el logro de los Objetivos de Desarrollo del Milenio (ODM) y la protección de los derechos humanos y de la niñez. El apoyo de UNICEF y del sistema de las Naciones Unidas está orientado, en el Marco de Asistencia para el Desarrollo de Naciones Unidas (UNDAF, por sus siglas en inglés), hacia las metas nacionales de fortalecimiento de la gobernabilidad democrática; el desarrollo económico, social e institucional; al mejoramiento de la calidad y gestión de los servicios sociales; y disponer de políticas y capacidades nacionales y locales para la protección y gestión ambiental sostenible.
La cooperación de UNICEF está dirigida a fortalecer la capacidad nacional para lograr los Objetivos de Desarrollo del Milenio relativos a la niñez y adolescencia, los cuales forman parte de la agenda política nacional.
Translation - English Background
The Dominican Government is committed to achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and protecting human rights and children’s rights. UNICEF and the United Nations system’s support is geared towards, in the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF), the national aims of strengthening democratic governance, economic, social and institutional development, improving the quality and management of social services, and national and local skills and policies for sustainable environmental protection and management.
UNICEF’s cooperation is aimed at strengthening national capacity for achieving the Millennium Development Goals that relate to children and young people, which make up part of the national political agenda.
