My
name
is Lauge B. Gevitz, I'm
Danish. I live in the town of Sønderborg at the seaside, close to
the border to Germany.

Albeit
my mother's tongue is Danish, I learned English at a fairly tender
age.

For
27 years I was employed by a large Danish company with a global
reach, where English is the corporate language.

In
2003 I founded ab&l Consult, which is still active.

During
most of my career, up until now, English has been my working
language.

I
have been working on /off in the UK and the US.

Since
1990 until recently, I have mainly worked in Asia. With India as my
hub, I covered the territory from Turkey in the west to China and
South Korea in the east.

I'm
a professional educator,writer and public speaker. Some of my
articles have appeared in different magazines.

I
have been active translating English-to-Danish and vice versa since
1975 until today.

I've
dealt with a number of topics, such as business, marketing,
manufacturing, electronics, natural science, the environment,
astronomy, travel, aviation, religion, philosophy et al.

As
I'm not a youngster anymore, finding my wanderlust waning, yet still
wanting to be active business wise, made me look for something where
I could make use of my skilles.

A
friend of mine, who is a translator and interpreter, introduced me to
this kind of endeavour. He invited me to take an English language
quality test. I passed!
