I am a self-employed, bilingual (Finnish/English) Brit, and have lived and worked in Finland for 21 years. Languages have always been my passion, both foreign and my mother tongue. My work enables me to indulge this passion, and I thoroughly enjoy working with the English language and constantly learning more about how it works.

My years of exprience in editing have given me insight into many language areas: scientific, communications, technical, marketing, academic. I have learned that not only accuracy, but style and tone are often misrepresented in texts written by non-natives.

I have ten years of experience in teaching English to professional working adults. I also worked for 11 years as the English language editor at the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health, where I edited the language of scientific articles, reports, funding applications and many other kinds of texts. I also did some translations from Finnish to English and designed and held in-house English training for the employees.

My area of specialisation in editing English is occupational health and safety. This subject covers many topics, such as psychology, bullying, carcinogens, personal protective equipment, ergonomics, burnout, chemical exposures, etc.
