Bio

I am devoted to the French language and translation. After a year working in translation project management, I realized that my true calling was not to handle files, but to translate them. Having worked on the client side, I know exactly how to be the perfect freelancer. Working closely with exclusively pharmaceutical files (preflighting, formatting and finalizing them) I learned all about the language and procedures surrounding medical translation, which inspired me to continue in that field. I also majored in French and Linguistics at NYU, where I studied French translation along with linguistic theory. As a native English speaker, my primary language pair is French-English, but I translate into French, as well. Along with medical translation, I have done non-technical translation, such as animated shorts, CVs, internet quizzes and how-to crafts patterns. I am driven and detail-oriented, and will never give up until a file reaches its fullest potential.

Although I have always loved languages, before turning to translation, I was a scholarship student at the pre-professional ballet training program in New York, The School at Steps. At this time I also studied at the William Esper Studio for Acting. My background in the performing arts has aided me in translation. Just as in a play or dance, the performer needs to take what the writer or choreographer created and animate it with a life of its own, so a translator must take a text and give it a new life, while staying true and faithful to the original. Furthermore, the discipline I developed in my time studying has stayed with me always and informs every aspect of my life.
