Barcelona compta actualment amb una oferta lúdica i d’oci nocturn envejable. Els nous centres comercials se sumen a les artèries comercials de tota la vida. L’agenda cultural anuncia contínuament esdeveniments, festivals, festes populars i trobades professionals. Barcelona és al candeler internacional i compta amb una àmplia oferta de places hoteleres per donar resposta a l’expectació i l’interès creixent per aquesta ciutat.
Durant el 2013 es va arribar a la xifra de 700.000 visitants de congressos, al Sònar 66.000 visitants internacionals, pel Circuit festival 70.000.
També l'excel·lència de la gastronomia representada pels nombrosos premis i reconeixement internacional dels restaurants de la casa nostra.
Per últim els grans èxits esportius del F.C.Barcelona fa que la gent, per la via de l'esport, pugui reconèixer el nom de Barcelona. Si situéssim els visitants del museu del F.C.Barcelona en el llistat de museus d'art més visitats del món estaria en el número 18, amb la xifra de 1.600.000 visites.
A causa del gran coneixement i prestigi de la marca Barcelona s'engloben moltes altes zones o activitats que realment no hi pertanyen, però que permeten un coneixement internacional. Amb el temps agafarà importància la marca Catalunya, però fins aleshores s'ha d'aprofitar la feina ben feta de Barcelona.
Alguns d'aquests casos són la Costa Brava amb les seves precioses cales o el museu Dalí, Tarragona amb equipaments com Port Aventura, les zones vinícoles, els Castellers, o tot el Pirineu amb activitats durant totes les èpoques de l'any.
Això queda palès amb la proposta de la candidatura als Jocs olímpics d'hivern de la ciutat de Barcelona, tot i disputar-se al Pirineu, o la construcció al Camp de Tarragona del complex Barcelona World. Dos exemples de com la marca Barcelona s'utilitza per captar l'atenció del públic internacional tot i quedar fora del seu àmbit territorial.
