Bio
I have a French to English Translation Certificate from New York University (NYU) and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology. I specialize in medical and life sciences translations.

I have worked as a clinical laboratory scientist in a hospital laboratory setting for more than 15 years, currently in the microbiology department. After 10 years in the laboratory I began studying French and was particularly drawn to the cultural sharing and bridge-building aspects of learning a foreign language. My studies include undergraduate and graduate course work, as well as four French immersion programs in Quebec and France. I worked for several years as a community college French instructor and English writing tutor prior to pursuing translation studies.

In addition to my expertise in clinical microbiology, I have been an environmental activist and educator for most of my adult life, holding various volunteer and paid positions as a naturalist/natural history interpreter. I have also worked with a broad range of local and state environmental organizations to uphold and strengthen environmental protection laws. My work with a local anti-herbicide coalition earned recognition from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for “significant contributions to the environment.”

As a translator, I consider it a privilege to have both the writing skills and French language skills that permit me to contribute to greater communication and stronger connections between French and English speaking people around the world.
