Explanation:
elegyrendezés = marshalling (UK), classification/classifying (Am)

The Train Marshalling Problem
• The cars have different destinations,
• we use auxiliary rails to rearrange their order so that all cars with the same destination will be grouped together.
• Since, in general, there may be several trains at the station to be processed at the same time, the target is to use as few auxiliary rails as possible for each train.

Explanation:
Train composition and operations.

Marshalling and Composition of Freight Trains.

Train compositions can be modified at certain stations by coupling train units to a train or by uncoupling train units from it. Changing the composition of a train is a complex process. It requires a number of shunting movements...

For each sevice we know the planned time of arrival or departure as well as the exact composition of the train.

... to modify a train composition by coupling or uncoupling train units...

We do not operate a 'fixed formation' train, we vary the composition to suit the number of passengers. www.bestway.com/itineraries/t124.php

neutral  Andras Mohay (X): Ez "vonat-összeállítás"! A "shunting" a tolatás, tehát elegyrendezés talán "marshalling" v. "classification/classifying" - Választ ld fent

-> Mint írtad, "az elegyrendezés... a kocsik állomási sorrendbe rendezését jelenti", vagyis meg kell "komponálni" a vonat összeállítását. A marshalling ennek a tolatással végzett fizikai megvalósítása. És hogy kerül ide a "classification"?

neutral  juvera: A classification biztos nem az. Az a vonat "minősítése".
