I have translated a text in Wordfast. Afterwards, I exported the Wordfast TM into tmx format. I\'m now going to import this memory into Trados Workbench 5.5. It is not going to work. Trados says segments are not valid.

The language pair setup is OK. Can anybody help?

Can you export it as *text* format instead? Oct 18, 2002

Not all TMX are compatible (as far I have read lately!)... but I could be wrong.

Can you export it as *text* format instead.

Trados could then handle a basic import.

Actually, I did! Oct 18, 2002

I do have a tmx format of my TM and I have the txt and bak file of Wordfast\'s TM.

Still, I cannot import either of them.

Check twice Oct 19, 2002

One thing: make sure the language codes are perfectly identical. In trados. Export an existing small TM as TMX. Open the TMX file with NotePad. Look at the language codes used.

Then look at the language codes used in Wordfast\'s TMX export. Do they match?

check tags Oct 19, 2002

sometimes you have to change the language tags as Rita mentions above. For example, when importing Trados TMs into DV, you have to manipulate the txt version of the TM by changing the text inside the brackets. For example, a Trados TM segment should look like this:

\"Seg L=DE-DE\"mit dem Programm in der praktischen Anwendung.

\"Seg L=EN-US\"the program in practical applications.

Then go to the Wordfast txt version and look how the corresponding tag looks like. If different, change by doing a universal \'replace\'.

open the tmx file in Wordpad and save it as Unicode text Oct 21, 2002

We had the same problem and resolved it converting tmx into Unicode and then improting into Trados
