Dear colleagues,

We have a question with regard to Wordfast installation. Our goal is to keep both our TRADOS and Wordfast toolbars active in Word XP.

Here is what is happening:

During Wordfast installation (i.e. the basic installation that takes place in the Word environment), our TRADOS buttons disappear and are replaced by Wordfast buttons. On the last step where we proceed to shutdown and re-open Word, the Wordfast buttons are now gone, and the TRADOS b

On the last step where we proceed to shutdown and re-open Word, the Wordfast buttons are now gone, and the TRADOS buttons are back as if Wordfast had never been installed. We've fooled around with the "Pandora's Box" instructions in the user manual, but this has not worked for us. It's probably something painfully simple that we are overlooking, but we're not sure.

Again, the goal being to install Wordfast and end up with the TRADOS and Wordfast toolbars permanently "side by side" in Word...

Can anyone give us a simple, step-by-step procedure to accomplish this, based upon their own experience?

Many thanks in advance!!!

Todd and Monica

You might have already tried it... Jul 22, 2003

... but the only system I know is to click on View, then on Toolbars and I get a list of available toolbars - I click on the ones I want always visible and that's it! Even simpler, I point the mouse anywhere on the toolbar areas, right click and get the same list of available toolbars.

This is a simple system - hope it is effective for you, too!

Ciao, Gilda

Keep templates Jul 22, 2003

Some old-time templates disturbe Wordfast. Wordfast switch off all other templates.
Templates of Trados are well written and you can keep them with command KeepTemplate=.
You can keep ALL or named: KeepTemplate=TRADOS5, KeepTemplate=MTerm-EN, KeepTemplate=WinAligh5 etc. Details are in manuals. In http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wordfast you can read about Sputnik set-up.

Just enable Trados template again Jul 22, 2003

Hi,
By default, Wordfast disables all other Word templates, including Trados. Therefore Trados toolbar disappears from the screen and from View/Toolbars list. In this case you have folloving options:
1) You can change this behavior in Pandora Box (KeepTemplate command). But Pandora Box is an perilous thing...
2) Go to Service/Tools/Templates & Add-Ins and click Trados checkbox in a list (it may be called trados5/6.dot or tw4win.dot, depending on version), and Trados toolbar sh

3) Use so-called Sputnik setup in Wordfast. This is an experimental fearure, though.

Sputnik setup in Wordfast Jul 22, 2003

What you want to do is normally not possible because of conflicting shortcuts etc.

Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wordfast

and search for sputnik for more information about using Wordfast and Trados simultaneously.

Not 100% possible, I believe Jul 22, 2003

Take a look at this link: http://www.geocities.com/wordfast/downgrade.html

This is about using Trados and WF at the same time.

I have installed both (Wordfast 4.2 and Trados FL 6) at the time, but use the Tools-Templates and Add-Ins to decide which one to be active. To avoid a possible crash I always use one at the time.

...and Wordfast is my number one choice since I first tried it last summer.
